My first post here and appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance.
Just curious what sort of rough price I would get for the black/red interior out of a VY SS, front and rear seats and door trims. Maybe others have sold theirs off... Just trying to crunch the numbers on the changeover to a genuine leather one
Cheers

Obviously depends on condition but a friend of mine sold a mint set of cloth VZ trim from an SV6 for $1250. was pretty difficult to sell to being cloth.

Wow! I had this thing in my head thinking $900 max and I would be stoked, I wouldn't say its in mint though with a good detail it would come up close to. Has the SS embroidered in all the seats except the drivers, why did they do that?

They are often on this sites classifieds or ebay. Also, check down the bottom of this blue screen.
(There's a chance this might get closed down, as questions like this are often "questions" that are looking to flush out buyers away from the classifieds)

Is that only when you are sitting in that seat? :stick:
Sounds wierd. Is it definitely bolstered on the sides the same as the passenger one? Wondering if it's an S pack drivers seat.

Sorry and not trying to do anything like that. When I went to post this thread I got prompted to check for similar threads and it returned no matches so posted away, my bad. Don't even pick the car up until friday and already planning some mods, just sourced a leather interior and wanted to get a rough resale on the cloth one, sorry if I have pissed anyone off.

No mate it's all good. Was just giving you some advice on how forums tend to be like at times.
Re the seat bolstering post, if the sides of the seat are much flatter than the passenger ones, someone will have fitted an S drivers seat before you bought it, which are trimmed the same as SS but don't grip you as much (or have any logos).
This would seriously affect your final price.

I am pretty sure planetdavo knows what he is talking about on Holden seats.
If they are not what he says I am thinking it could be a SV8 with SS badges perhaps?
Planetdavo knows his stuff!:)

Because some people turn SV8's into mockup SS's..

I am not doubting planetdavo, I am thinking now someone has replaced the seat with an S Pack job like he said :flipoff: . It is definitely an SS though as VIN/Engine checks out to be an SS, would put photos up but can't insert attachements.

definitely should have "SS" on drivers seat ..
I reckon full cloth would be worth about 600 .

Buddy, if the car has the "wrong" seats I would just be very cautious about the history of the car, and about buying it.
It is obviously up to you what you do, good luck and I hope whatever you decide you are happy with! :)

I've been around the car industry for 23 years now, and have seen my fair share of things occur over that time...
IF the seat has been changed, it's quite likely the cushions and trims were excessively worn or damaged, or the frame had cracked. Since SS interiors are worth a bit, "some" operators might be tempted to go for the cheaper, easier to find a single seat only S/SV8 seat swap, and just hope they get away with it because the potential buyer is likely to be sitting in that seat (looking at all the other correct seats).

Thanks mate, already signed the contract and put a hefty deposit down. It has everything SS besides the front drivers seat. The dash is legit also as the kilometres and services have been verified by the original selling dealer and the 2nd selling dealer, both Zupps. Will get back with some pcis in the coming days. Couldn;t pass it up for price and power, Full exhaust and definitely tuned, just don't like how hard the auto changes but guess that can be retuned...
Would the costs of converting an SV8 to an SS even be worthit in the long run for the seller?

As I said before I reckon all the seats should be the same.
Just be cautious, I am sure Zupps would not have changed this but a previous owner may have.
Just check the books and history.
Good luck! :)

Mate I would go and look at a few other SS's and get very familliar with what trim they have and compare this one.
Then I would be carefully checking the vehicle and it's history and asking why?
Good luck!:)

maybe take 100 off . The front seats are worth more ...you probably have an ss but the drivers has been replaced due to wear ? . The front seats while very comfortable and well designed wear very badly around the drivers seat bolster. They are made of inferior materials for the usage they get because they just have no durability .
I think it should have SS on ALL the seats.
Yes of course on all seats but we were talking about the drivers seat .

From memory the leather seats and climate control AC option came together in the VY2 and was $1500 for a ute, so a bit more for a sedan.
Maybe look for a model with these options rather than forking out the cost of replacing the seats.
Sounds like you have your heart set on getting this car, is there a cooling off period??

Is it an ex cop car?
Might have been replaced with a non SS seat cause it was damaged due to the offices belts and guns
My series 2 VY SS leather has SS on all the seats and leather and climate control were a package together
How much did you pay for the leather trim? Did you get a series 1 or 2 leather trim? They have different shaped seats

Don't expect to get much for the seats if you intend to sell them, I had mine on here and a few other forums plus ebay and didn't sell for $500ono.
So just don't think you have an easy $500 for them

Thanks for all the constructive replies! Got more info reading and asking here in the last 48 hours than any of the other sites! Its definitely an SS, all history has been checked, its just a povo sv8/s replacement like davo said. Someone asked about what leather i bought, i haven't, just theres a full red leather on ebay at the moment for $2150, so was curious what i would get for the cloth. Leather wasn't high on my list and due to the floods, waiting a few months to find everything i wanted was not an option
Thanks for the input. Now how much would an SS drivers seat be brand new? Going to stick with the cloth for the near future at least...
Hi Black SS,
You may not have to sell your seats. There's probably an motor trimmer in your area who can fit leather to your existing seats.
If I'd kept my VY SV8, that was the plan. I'd spoken to Doyles in Auburn, a Sydney suburb. These guys had a number of brand new SS's and XR Falcons out the front. They were doing conversions for dealers whose customers wanted leather and the dealer's cars had fabric. Last time I checked, the cost was around $2500. I guess that might make it cheaper to buy 2nd hand seats?

The up-side of new leather covers is you get a choice of colour. I was interested in burgundy with HSV logos.
Ask your local dealer who they use for leather seat conversions?

How can you not notice the drivers seat is an s pack instead of the ss seat? Does this car qualify to be called a hybrid? Half ss and half s

Thanks PAH, weighing up the leather option now. Holden want $275 for the genuine SS drivers seat back pad assembly only! I have seen VE SS/Clubby interiors cheap ($1250-$1500) but I think the VE ones would look out of place in a VY IMO.
I have PROSEAT AUTO in Brisbane (found them on ebay but can't post the link as I haven't reached 20 posts) and they quoted me $1295 to retrim the whole car in leather, including door trims and console, in my choice of colour/two tone... Has anyone here used them or bought their product and installed it themselves?
Funny thing is since picking up the car the other day, I haven't cared less about the drivers seat logo :yahoo:
Hi Black SS,
That sounds like a good price. Make sure they are using nice leather. What;s the good stuff? It might be Howe Leather? Somebody might know.
I'd check prices with a few trimmers and ask what type of leather they use.
Ask them if they can reprofile the side wings on the front seats for more lateral support too.

I used Doylesleather to do a lot of the work on my ss and what they did came out first-class, they did all that I asked for and more.
I think they have a store in QLD to, you will pay more from Doylesleather then from proseat but you get what you pay for and the retrims I've seen from proseat look cheap IMO.
