Hi.

I did a forum search and I see a lot on machining VE "mag" wheels but cant find anything on VE steel wheels.

I have seen adds selling VE steel wheels to fit pre VE so I know it can be done.

I have rang some places that machine the VE mags but they dont machine the steel wheels.

Any one know where it can be done in Melb?

Also..I see holmart selling machined VE steel rims but advising buyers not to use them for any length of time...does this mean that they are not safe?

Thanks.

it is not recommended as the steel wheels are pressed into shape and the machining of the centres would slightly weaken them - by how much who knows.

Try Ajax Motor Wheels

PS i dont think you looked very hard, found this at the bottom of page

i did this last week. there is still 1mm (out of ~2.5mm) of the steel flange left. the original doesn't even contact the centre of the hub around the whole centre as during the stamping process there are large gaps or creases. in fact machining increases the contact area with the centre hub.

if you are adding the interceptor caps, you will have to use the VE centre and can get away with using vy-vz stock nuts with the plastic caps.
