Hi Guys,
I'm running a LS1 in my VK race car & are in the process of fitting a VX radiator in it complete with over flow container.

My question is does any one have pictures or know how the over flow is plumbed into the system? I ordered some brand new top & bottom hoses & thought they may come with tee piece but they don't.

I've sold both My HSV's so I can't pop the bonnet & check.

Cheers

a VX (or any VL on V8 radiators) are NOT a bolt in in any VB-VK models
becoz
the lower radiator support and chassis webs(braces) are completely
different. :bawl: plus the side clip stays are different too

the side clips are easy overcome but you have to cut out the
bottom rad support (and bracing) and weld in a VL on type
(note VL is not available but you can use VR/VS)

from memory the LS1 rad overflow tube comes from the back of
the filler cap area and that can go to a VX V8 overflow on the LH strut
(opposite of the standard holden V8 setup...on the RH side)

Hi smitty,
I have already fitted the radiator, and made the modifications to make it fit.

I VX radiator does not have a cap, they are a sealed unit. It uses the over flow as a filler, so some how it needs to join into the system. A mate of mine THINKS it joins back where the heater hoses leave the block? Not sure.

This is a little hard to explain, but I will give it a go... so there are two smaller hose connectors for the hoses to connect to the water lines. Looking at the radiator once it is in the car, the small hose connector on the radiator which is on the right (remebering looking at the radiator when it is in the car from the top down) connects to the header tank (easiest way i remember is the hose connects to the closest to the header tank). The other small hose connector on the left is going to the motor (connects next to the throttle body - once again, the hose connects to the radiator closest to the throttle body).

I hope that helps.

Thanks Beno, what about the larger hose at the bottom of the over flow tank?

Larger hose from header tank will go (obviously) from header tank to a crossover pipe that is mounted behind the radiator (on a standard vx anyways). this pipe then joins into the heater hoses (t-piece) that connect to the water pump, I forget exactly where this joins, but I will be able to check it out tonite & let you know. (PM sent with my mobile, in case you want to call between 6-7pm melb time tonite & I will be able to explain exactly where it connects) - as I will have my head in the engine bay anyways.

good luck!
