hey guys,

im looking at getting a 2009-2010 model series 1 ute. SS or SSV in manual. My price budget is around $34000 drive away max! thats already the upper limit. :)

now heres my question. these two links are cars ive found on the net.

www [dot] carsales [dot] com [dot] au/all-cars/bncis/details.aspx?Cr=4&R=9963375&trecs=39&__Ns=pCar_Odometer_Single|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1 ||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0&__sid=1230AEA5DFBA&__Nne=20&__Qpb=true&SearchAction=N&seot=1&__N=1247%201252%201246%204294965857%201216%2042949 64873%204294922790%204294769472&silo=1011

this is a SSV manual for $36,990

and

www [dot] carsales [dot ] com [dot] au/all-cars/bncis/details.aspx?Cr=12&R=8952384&trecs=45&__Ns=pCar_Odometer_Single|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1 ||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0&__sid=1230AEA5DFBA&__Nne=20&__Qpb=true&SearchAction=N&seot=1&__N=1247%201252%201246%204294965857%201216%2042949 64873%20901%204294933351&silo=1011

this is a SS manual for $35,990

both are 2010 with no km's on them. before i try and haggle a price. i wanted to see what peoples opinion was on a price and if you think i could get 33,500 driveaway for the ssv? or am i dreaming. or should i be going even lower?!

sorry about the links!. just remove the [dot] and replace with . 's to see the cars!

thanks mog-

p.s- this will be my first v8 after coming over from the uk and driving nothing over 2.5 litre. so im quite excited :)

Don't reckon you will get it for 33500. I paid a touch over 34, but that was with 35% employee discount and $500 dealer discount, the dealer reckoned they were making about $900 on the car at that price. At 36990 there wouldn't be much in it for the dealer. Might be able to get some extras thrown in though! Best of luck with it.

Go to some dealers and ask them. Only way you will really know.

What is a good price?

That is impossible to answer... I might think $20k is too much to pay for something, others will differ...

YOU should pay what YOU are prepared to pay, and what YOU can AFFORD...

Simple as that.. Don't financially over commit...

And get off your ass and speak to a few DEALERS...rather than ppl on an internet forum.

I'm shopping around for a new car too at the moment. I haven't started a thread on whether I am getting a good price or not...

You know why?

Because I got off my ass and I've spoken to 4 or 5 dealers...and as soon as they say "I can't beat that price"...you know you are getting a pretty damn good deal.

Geez Andy you & your little Pal Kimberley are being a bit harsh on the Guy. I personally think it is the smart way to buy a New car He is doing his Homework on the internet seeing what other's have paid so that gives Him a figure to try for.

When I buy New cars I dont waste My time going from Dealer to Dealer do all My shopping, research & negioations over the net & phone then when deal is done I get Dealer to fax Me the paperwork

I think I've previously told you What I payed for My Senator & R8 tourer? If I did you would know it works well:bow:

Me being a bit harsh? I disagree...

I'm simply offering some words of advice, not to over commit and only pay what you are prepared/ can afford to pay...

HEKYEH i will definatly be speaking to dealers. I just thought i would ask on here and ask as i havent had any chance to get some time off work to get down to dealers in my area.

ive read some good info off this forum so it seemed a logical place to start, if someone on here had got one for $33000 new then i would know for a fact that i could push the dealer that low.

give me a break mate. im just doing extra homework. i will no doubt be heading to the dealers but after ive got a rough price of what im aiming for!

Have you spoken to the dealer to see if they are still avalible? I was looking at a series 1 ssv ute on carsales but when i rang up to enquire they came up with some bs about how the car had just been sold but they could do me a good deal on a series 2, give me very good price over the phone then say they made a mistake when i said yes. This same car was still advertised a month after that! Might be a trick to get you in the door.

Mike, appreciate what you are saying there. By getting of my ass, I didn't necessarily mean actually going to a dealer. I've done the majority of my negotiating via telephone and email as well. What others have paid may have no impact depending on when they bought the car, the extras that came with it, the Holden dealer specials on at the time...

Each to their own as to how they do their research and buy a car.

Apparently they pay for the ads on carsales in 3 month time frames, so the ad has to be there that long or something? Is there any truth in that?

holden had SS utes for $33990 drive away at the end of 08, had to be delivered before 31st dec, even the 08 sales pitch early in 09 didn't match that price. If you could get close to that i'd be happy.

There is a thread some where on what did you pay

I think thats crap; there was one advertised at my local that i had my eye on, the add was removed very shortly after it was taken of the lot !
