Hey folks,
Got my new wheels and went to put them on. My nuts fit fine, but theres no room for my 19mm deep socket to do them up...
Does anyone know where to buy a slimline 19mm socket from? Tried autobarn, bunnings and tradetools but where no help.
It needs to be 23mm OD.
I don't want to buy new nuts as I've just bought a new set.

Tried supercheap? Pretty sure you can buy single superworks gold sockets.. Quality isn't too bad either. Is it urgent because I'm sure I have one around here that I can measure for you?
Edit: No dice.. It's just over 24mm.

Thanks man, the 23mm is just a guestimate judging by the size of my wheel nuts. I can't find my vernier (spelling?) calipers either to see if I can get the right size.
I might just have to drive around with a wheel in a boot and try them all out.

Kinchrome (http://www.kincrome.com.au/web/catalogue/search/product_display.php?partnumber=K2021)make a set, so Autobarn should be able to order for you.
Teng (http://www.tengtools.com.au/wheel-nut-socket-set.html)do some, but are a little $
Toledo (http://www.tridon.com.au/products/Product.aspx?SG=5&S=21&G=620&P=68606)are now owned by Tridon - you could give their Virgina office a call tomorrow and find out where you can get a set :)

i had this problem too,
i just got a good quality sidchrome socket and ground down the sides with grinder to make the walls paper thin.
works a charm.
and before anyone says" that will weaken the socket and make it crack",
i thought of that already and made 2 spares and keep them in the boot too.
its not a perfect solution but it does the job if you cant find any around....

It is 1" OD, but it's something. Could probably take some meat off the outside and it will still work. It is Snap-On after all.

Who makes the wheels you have?
Just that I had the same issued with Speedy's Cheetahs, and so sent them an e-mail saying I coulldn't get a socket to fit into the wheel nut well of the wheel. A couple of days later a socket turned up in the mail (free of charge) with a wee note apologising for the inconvenience and all was good with the world again.
Perhaps give this a go and see what happens?
Cheers, TB

Supercheap sell mag wheel sockets designed for this purpose, you get three in a plastic case (SCA brand) for around 60 - 70 dollars and they fit in my speedy cheetahs nicely which suffer from the same problem as yours with no clearance and they are also plastic coated to stop you chipping your wheels, might be an option if you are in a hurry to get something.

+1 give old mate a 6 pack to wizz it down to correct OD in a lathe. much quicker than dicking around trying to find the correct fit socket.

I'd bought a set of Kincrome slimline impact sockets thinking they'd fit and they were too chunky so took them back. :( They might have fit if you took the plastic coating off but I wasn't game enough to try.
But their regular (and deep) 19mm or 3/4" sockets fit all the rims i've used them on. I just keep that and a long breaker bar in the boot.

This would be the go if you can't find anything, would take 5 mins on a lathe. I would do it for you but im a little bit far away haha

try a 19mm 3/8 drive socket they generally have a thinner wall. I have to use it on one of my sets of wheels. Don't buy the Supercheap wheel sockets for tight spaces, they work fine on normal wheels but are much thicker than a 19mm 3/8 socket. If you don't have a 3/8 drive socket set, make sure it fits then get a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter so you can use your normal socket bar.
