Hi there!!

Im currently looking at purchasing two of the mufflers to put in the centre along with an x-pipe in my LS1 cat-back system..

http://truestreetcars.com/forums/parts-accessories/7316-sale-new-borla-xr-1-race-mufflers.html

I'm just not quite sure what that other piece of perforated core is used for, in the centre through the muffler? On the borla site they called it is caled a "Straight Through Baffled Centre".. Not quite sure why they have that extra perforated piece in there?
If anyone has any idea's or experience with these mufflers.. would be much appreciated!!

Cheers.

It looks like it is really only there to hold the integrity of the other perforated piece in place and stop it deforming maybe?

I know an oldsmobile beat a viper with a full borla exhaust in a race.......... Oh wait that was fast and furious tokyo drift:)

LOL..
I have no idea what it's doing there.. i was thinking for extra strength in the core.. according to the borla website also, its says the XR-1 mufflers, flow better than straight pipes consistently in test's..

I've got xr-1's on my ute, IMO I think they sound the goods, if u don't mind your car being a little on the loud side, very bass'y note with 3" pipes..

Hmmm, i would of loved to have borla's instead of Di Filippo's, a least you know there is literally no one in australia with the same mufflers as you.. They don't seem to get alot of attention as the other American muffler brand "Magnaflow".. Maybe cos there dearer? I would like to see them be more readily available to the Aussie market, just as Magnaflow are.. Never heard of anyone using Borla before but on the us forum's they all swear by them!!

I first used Borla mufflers in 1995 and of course had to import them myself but they were worth every penny IMO. Haven't used them for a few years but yes they are still very well regarded on the US forums.
