Hey guys,

I have DBA 5000/4000 series rotors on my VY clubsport with 20" VE GTS replicas, never had any trouble fitting the wheels up onto the car.

However I've just recently tried fitting two genuine Holden wheels, one 17" and one 18", both which cleared the brake fine but just wouldnt sit flush up against the hub. There's no more than 5mm in it but its enough that I cant fit the wheel up, this is very strange and annoying as surely the DBA rotors should be able to handle the stock wheel (18")!!

I can see on the replicas that the hole behind where the centre cap would be looks just marginally bigger, but im still amazed its the genuine wheels that arent fitting on.

Has anyone had this problem before or can give me some insight?

Or am I stuck with having to put wheel spacers on?

Thanks guys

Silly question but did your copies have hub rings that might still be stuck on the hub??

Usual Commodore thing is for a thin layer of rust to build up on the hub centre, which prevents the tight fitting factory wheels from going on. Probably need to wire brush the rust off.

Hi Guys,

I bought a set of Bob Jane mags some years ago. They would not fit onto my VP because there was insufficient clearance between the locating hole in the centre of the wheel and the boss on each brake disk. The Bob Jane people tipped me off before I bought the wheels. They were sold at a clearance price. They advised that I'd need to get each mag machined at $15 each.

I wheeled each mag up and down the drive holding emery cloth into the mag's centre hole. Each wheel only needed a few thou clearance. It was the thickness of the paint. I had the wheels on inside 30 mins and no problems at all.

I wonder if this is the same problem for you Micky?

If there is any rust or a bit to much paint a clean up with emery cloth mite be all you need to get them to go on.

1. Make sure the rotor itself is sitting flat on the hub.
2. If it is, take a wire brush to the hub coming through the center of the rotor.
3. Take wire brush to the hole in the center of the wheel.
4. Make sure there's no hub-ring. (which there shouldn't be anyways considering the Holden wheel should be hubcentric)
5. Install wheel and use lug nuts to pull to rotor. If you can't tighten any more and there's still a gap, remove and check it out again.

Rotors have nothing to do with the fitment of the wheel from a hub center perspective. The center of the hub is a set size, and as long as the wheel you are using has the correct hubcentric hole size, it should fit assuming the rotor is trued to the hub.

How did you go Mickey?

Very embarrassing but yes hub rings was the problem. They stuck on all four corners. They had coloured perfectly with the rest of the hub, they were only small but once I shimmied them off it was all sweet :)

Thanks Again!!
