Hi all,
Have recently moved into a new role with work and the company is looking for an IMPACT vehicle!! Something that says look at me.
Key requirements:
- $40K budget give or take.
- Needs to accommodate my family; wife, 3 kids under 5 - all in kids seats (3 anchor points)
- Reasonable storage for gear.
- the company would probably add: reliable, efficient, ongoing costs.
I have a short-list of the following:
Dodge Nitro
Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (bit out of price range...)
Toyota Rukus (unsure of anchor points and whether 3 seats will fit in the second row?)
Holden Commodore SV6 Wagon??
The car will be completely wrapped in advertising also. The car will be leased thru Summit leasing. I would also love some advise to the best way to present my desired car to the company - whether I negotiate price to perhaps get a better car for the budget??
Would love to hear your ideas....
Thanks.

The three kids under 5 part is gonna make it hard. Do you still need room for prams/strollers/etc?? The small 4x4 might be a good option or at the least a sedan. A hatch might be pushing it abit. Maybe a V6 Suzuki Grand Vitara??

What's a basic Territory worth these days?
Ticks the boxes for kid accomodation, and the huge slab sides are great for mobile billboarding.
Efficiency may be an issue though, but the diesel is coming isn't it? Or you could put it on LPG.

Yellow SV6 wagon with black track stripes on 20s - can't tell me that wouldn't stand out a mile!
(Might not work that well if it's going to be covered in ads though).
The Toyota draws you're attention so I would go that way personally. Or a Honda oddesy (not sure on cost) that has been lowered with some nice wheels is an attention grabber.

Could near on go a new ss wagon. Toyota Rukus or Kia Soul will stand out. For that sort of money I would also be looking at something like a Skoda Octavia RS wagon, a little left field but i like them

have a look in the subaru rang very relible, most of them would stick out like dods ball if wraped in vinly advertising just not sure about the 3 baby seats
JEEP Wrangler 4dr
Toyota FJ Cruiser - but it's 50 days till it's launch .
HUMMER - rolls eyes , but they do attract attention .
Chrysler 300C wagon or sedan - they have street cred
HSV XUV - if it doesn't have to be new .

What does the company do - what is the impact you are trying to make... that is going to have a bearing on the final choice.

Hi all,
Thanks for all of your replies!!
So far you've suggested:
Suzuki Grand Vitara
Ford Territory
-We have had these previously and as a Holden man I couldn't do it!!
Holden Commodore Wagon SS
Honda Obyssey
-cool
Toyota Rukus
-not sure about the kids with this and the soul?? but look cool.
Kia Soul
Subaru Range
-Our fleet is all Libertys, and I love the car, but don't think it has the impact factor?? 2010 model does fit 3 seats!
Jeep Wrangler
Toyota FJ Cruiser
Hummer
Chrysler 300c
HSV XUV
-needs to be new.
I work for a sporting goods supplier and we are attempting to create the big brand presence at sporting events, hence the impact vehicle.
My favourites from your responses are:
Chyrsler 300c - wagon would be great, but doesn't appear to be available anymore??
Honda Odyssey - starting from $45K.
Hummer - can't find the new price?? and which model??
Toyota FJ cruiser - cool, but appears to be 90% offroad focussed.
Holden SS Wagon - due to economy, probably be SV6.
I might have to start a poll..
I believe the company does not want to modify the car.
Appreciate all the feedback guys - keep it coming.

A Black Mazda CX7, with dark tints, lowered, big wheels. I know you said with no modifications, but they wont notice a couple.

Just get whatever car you want, then cover it in artificial grass, as opposed to vinyl wrap.
Will get you all the attention you could want and more

1,3,5 - 1 in booster, 2 in convertible seats - all require anchor points!
auto
understand but the company has a enviro policy which would exclude V8s.

if its for sporting events then i reakon a suv sorta 4wd thing..
as you may have to get up onto the grass onto kerbs what not, where a low slung bodykitted wagon might not get.

Go for the SV6 wagon.. awesome shape and dont have to spend and arm and a leg to make them look good ;)
Sample..

I'm a little biased though ;).. Certainly turns heads without having to try lol.
With coil overs.. you can raise or lower any time you want.. depending on the event :)

Only because it is new and interesting to look at due to its dramatic styling but perhaps something like the Kia Optima? People will be second looking to start which will also reveal the business. Reviews are pretty good for what it is. Problem will be aftermarket if you want to lower plus I would change wheels.

We just went through the same process but not company car but I had to accomodate 3 kids all in seats. 2, 5 and 7. 2 booster seats and 1 child seat still. I had up and till a few weeks ago a Verada GTVi AWD and loved it but there was not enough room in the back seat. Have just bought a Calias V sportswagon and the kids have heaps of room and the car has good road presence.....
I throw my hat in for the SV6 Sportwagon in a bright color..........Have always liked the sportwagon and so far doesn't feel like I am driving a family station wagon as it handles like a sedan....Cost would be in the ball park and company would not complain abot running costs...
Stear away from the small 4x4's they really aren't worth the hassle. Como wagagon has all the space you need....

Did it need to be a postive impact or just an impact?

Thanks again guys,
I'm almost convinced....
SV6 Wagon - I don't think I will have the budget to make it look like yours Darkrayne, but with perhaps some decent wheels and the full wrap advertising, should come up a treat.
I saw the optima at the Australian Open, and thought it was looked pretty good for a KIA? Also didn't mind the new KIA Sorrento either...
I'll keep you posted, and post up some pics when completed.
Cheers.
