There is a vaccum line that runs from the back of the inlet manifold through the grommet around the heater hoses and to a assembly on the back of the dial. There are about 5 coloured lines that run off to the various different vaccum actuators that open and close the vents. There will be an air leak somewhere. They can be a pain to trace, hopefully the one of the back of inlet manifold has fallen off. Start there.

I had this happen on my VX SS.I had checed all the vacuum system and could find nothing. Called Holden as it was still under new car warranty at the time. Turned out that the dashboard unit was faulty. Holden replaced it and all was good.

Yeah I just went and checked again and it seems to be working normally now  Fingers crossed it stays that way. It was a pretty hot day in Brisbane today, might have something to do with it

Noticed that when the engine is off and I turn the air vents to windscreen it will stay on windscreen but as soon as I turn the engine on it will return to normal. Guessing theres def a vac leak somewhere, possibly in the vacuum tank or solenoid pack
