iv bee defected for too low, but the only section that is under 100MM height is the rear part of the exhaust where it goes past the diff, it seems to me that there is still plenty of room to tuck it up closted to the body, but all exhausts i have seen hang around 40-50 mm away from the part of the k-frame.
does anyone make exhaust that are a nice snug fit arounf this area? or are they all the same?
iv got the tools to modify it myself, but its a struggle to get enough time to do it!
my system is a 2.5 inch x-force system, but iv looked at the difillipo and vcm systems and they hang just as low.
any ideas/ input would be great!

How much too low is it?
I got done a while back in my VY and swapped over the rear springs to stock ones then went through Vicroads for the check and all was fine, then went home and changed them back.

Just had a look at my KPM system which is tucked up pretty high, dont think it'll be possible to tuck it up any higher than it already is even if you custom built a catback. Only suggestion would be to chuck in some higher springs for the rear as VESS60LTR suggested, or bolt the stock catback back in & leave the lowered springs in place.

getting the roady is no problems, but i want to get it all sorted so i cant get done by the popo. its got sssl in the rear, but sits way too low to pass. i like the look of the ssl in the rear, but i think the exhaust will still hang too low!

Try some Airbags then you can go low or high depending on what you want.
Also with mine i didnt need to get a roadworthy but I did need to get Vicroads to check it off. Did you get done for other stuff as well?
On my form the cop gave me there was a couple of boxes that he ticked one was for the minor or major items and one was for the RWC needed or not needed IIRC mine was ticked major but no to a rwc but I still had to go to Vicroads to clear the infraction.

Here's a pic of my KPM system, you can see that its tucked up pretty high almost touching the suspension frame.

Bear in mind that mine's a 3inch system so you maybe able to get away with the 2.5inch system with ssl springs, otherwise coilovers would be another sugestion.

that sits up LOTS higher than mine! the top of my pipe is like level with the bottom hole of the rubber hanger! looks like yours is almost level with the bottom of your pipe, making yours approx. 50mm higher.

:eek:wow thats pretty low! maybe take off the hangers from the catback, then push it up closer to the body then reweld the brackets into place?

Iv jacked it up, but it puts the tips out of line with the bumper and al sorts of shit, to make it work i will have to cut it up and re make most of the rear section!

Will do mate, should be home in the next few hours, def quiet compared to x force, but much better sound, apparently much louder with headders

your x force was so loud with the balance pipe!
you still running hsv headers?
Hey Adam,
have you tried just bending the metal hangers on the current exhaust? I use to put the exhaust on the ground, stand on the hangers a little , to bend them, then once the exhaust is back on the car, this would make the exhaust sit up higher under the car - see if this works for you mate?!

you could try bending the hangers to raise the exhaust but that may cause issues with tip alignment to the bumper.. as the whole system will be fabricated and bent to suit that position and tip alignment. Can always give it a go i guess. id put some local heat (oxy) into the hangers to make them easier to bend though

Iv tryed to bend the mounts, but it then messes up the alinment of the rest of the exhaust and also puts lots of stress on the rubbers! The whole system needs to be set up to be high so everything lines up. The kpm system I think will fit and clear with ssl but the price is a little steep. I'm keen to see how sixltrs vcm exhaust fits. They are almost half the cost of the kpm!

Not really mate, the xforce has been great. It sounds good. Performs good, and if I was not so keen to have it so low, it would be a great system. I think for the price it is bloody great and suits most peoples needs to a tee!

Spot on mate, I can't fault the x force which lasted 3 years in mild steel, all for 700 bucks
