I recently fitted a set of xa pedders coilovers to my VE GTS to get the desired ride height however i quickly learnt that the GTS sits pretty low standard.. I lowered it close to 20mm in the front with just 90mm clearance from the exhaust and side skirts. I was trying to achieve at least a 100mm ground clearance though that would mean only lowering the car 10mm from orginal height :( anyway i am trying to set it up the best way for handling and was wondering if anyone could give some advice as to what height works best and dampering settings etc.. one issue i cannot work out is in the rear left side always sits 10mm higher despite being the same distance of thread on each coilover is this normal? Does it matter if i try adjusting the other side to match, i guess the question is will it effect the handling if one side has more turns on the coilover than the other side? I havent touched the spring tension just fitted them exactly how i recieved them. The front was easy to get correct level the rear seems to hard to achieve a even result..

Front and rear height from ground to guard was 700.4mm

Front lowered 20mm bringing it down to 685mm

Rear Lowered 40mm bringing it down 665mm RHR & 675mm LHR

Some help would be apprecaited.

I have XA's fitted to my VE GTS, I don't know how low it is on the underside of the car but from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the guard it is 140mm front and rear. This has the car sitting nicely, quite practical for driving around town. The only problem is that it is very hard to get on some hoists, I need to drive the front of the car up onto some blocks to ge the arms of the hoist under the side skirts.

My car also sat higher on the left hand rear for some reason, I just wound down the strut so that it sits level. I only had to drop it 5mm and it hasn't affected the handling. In regards to the height you should be able to set the stuts to any height and it will not affect the ride as you are only changing the height not the spring rate. So the spring rate will remain the same no matter how far you wind down the strut.

The damper setting are very much personal preference. I have talked to one guy who runs his on full hard front and rear all day every day, and another who runs his at middle setting and has never adjusted them.

I run mine on 15 at the rears and 20 on the front for everyday use. For longer/interstate trips I set them to full soft all round. If I have a heap of stuff in the boot I will leave them at 15 in the rear and full soft on the front.
Don't be scared to have a play with the settings just take notes so you don't get confused as to what setting works best.

I wanted to fit the XA's to my E3 Clubsport but it only has 10mm clearance on the front spoiler over the rolled gutters to get in my drive as standard, how do you guy's go over these gutters now with them lowered ?

Very slowly.:) I have a rolled gutter and the ride height on mine is dictated by the rolled gutter. I kept dropping the height until the front bumper was just above it, there is only a couple of mm clearance. I usually reverse into the driveway, I just don't let the front wheels drop into the gutter or the bar scrapes.
Cheers, Tim.

I messured mine from the center of the wheel to the guard and these are the messurements below.

Front 136mm

Rear 133mm

I only lowered it 18-19mm from standard height in the front. And 40mm in the rear.. Someone mentioned that the suspension could be slightly off from factory and it seems that others have experience simlair issue.. I might have another crack at adjusting it again :)

Thanks guys for the feedback..

If your looking for better handling i would strongly advise switching to coilovers. Even at normal ride height it drives so much better, actually changes the way the car feels to another level and is rather smooth.. I used to be always against coilovers in the past because every car i've been in that had them fitted had such a ruff ride. The Pedders XA are the first coilovers that i've seen that still retain a smooth ride without bouching all over the place. A mate had these fitted to his GTS and after driving his car i was sold :)

Price new supply only is around $1950.00 i believe fitted is $2350.00 I didn't find them hard to fit though i am mechanically minded however the rears are a little tricky.. there is a little bit of mucking around..

Cheer mate..
