Hey guys,
Did a search can't find much about people replacing the current SS/SSV seats?
Just wondering if anyone's done it and if so, what did you put in? And did you need seats with Airbags (due to the SSV coming with airbags standard).
I guess after searching for a new car for the wife, I've sat in a couple of cars with some real nice bolstering seats, like the EVO and Civic Type R.
I guess the easy choice would be to buy some 2nd hand GTS seats, but just wondering if anyone else has had these thoughts or even tried it out?
Cheers.

I'm pretty sure there are some GTS style ones on ebay that should bolt straight in...

Yeah I've seen them, but I remember reading somewhere that if your car came with airbags in the seats, its illegal to replace them with non airbagged seats??
Correct me if I'm wrong..cause if I'm wrong, those seats on ebay look pretty good for the price.

I just had a look at Ebay with the seller Proseat.auto and they look ok and you can get any colour combo which is good. I'd want to know if you keep all the electric tilt etc if i swapped. Does the SSV come with airbags in the seat, i've never taken any notice.

i have trimmed a few sets of gts seats into ve's. just make sure your trimmer has airbag acreditation

Correct, I cant remember which trimmer told me but if you have airbags you cannot bolt in non airbag ones. Get them re trimmed into a full GTS so, they are all the same frame anyway. Put some pics up when they are done!:goodjob:

So the standard VE seats use the same frame as the GTS?
Cause I know the VZ R8 seats use a taller frame as do the VT-VY coulson's.

Hi
I've been a trimmer for years now, for my customers i buy the ve gts foams from Proseat for around $600 a pair.
I've recovered a few of these seats now and I've always used a standard ve seat frame.
For the airbag in the seats, the foam has a little cut out in it for the airbag to sit in.
It's pretty easy going if you know what your doing that is:)

Any recommendations for a Perth dealer/trimmer?
Would love red and black SSV sitched seats but GTS foams in my ute :)

Would it be prohibitively expensive to just buy a GTS seat from Holden and slot it in?

Sorry but I'm not to sure about the mate. Have you tried Doyles to see if they make front seat covers for them to send to you.
I don't make these covers to keep in stock as i don't see them to much

I Don't think holden will sell you hsv parts with out you own one, and if they did you'd pay big $$$$ for them.

:yup: I've priced a few things from dealers for both Holden and HSV lately and the ridiculous prices HSV charge for stuff will probably put me off ever owning one!! For example, a HSV VE front guard is well over twice the price of a Holden one - and then they want close to $400 for each flute!!
A chrome Calais VE bonnet mould is approx $122. The virtually identical HSV one (unpainted I believe) is over $425!!!!!

So today I had 12mm of pink foam added to each squab wing and to shoulder areas of my '10 SSV drivers seat. This was then shaped up a bit. The difference is amazing, Whilst doesn't look as sexy as the GTS seats it is far better IMO.
Yes I have sat in GTS seats. The main issue is I am your non-standard Aussie frame - I am 5'10 and about 63kg; yeah i need to pork up a bit. So most seats have heaps of space and lack support.
Anyway I rate this mod; and would advise anyone looking at changing their seats to talk to a reputable specialist and see if they can have their existing seat re-formed.
