I have an edelbrock intake on mine with a 4barrel throttlebody (like a carby, but with EFI and injectors) and am currently modifying the hole lot to be under the bonnet. Its definately possible but most carbies are higher than a throttlebody due to the extra size of the fuel stuff, so you may have dramas with keeping it all under the bonnet.
It will also depend on the intake manifold you use, I think from what I can tell, the GMPP manifold sits lower than the edelbrock version, you could also mill the top of the manifold down to lower the height, but I don't know what other affects this could have.

Thats mine with a 5" filter and a 1" spacer under the throttlebody, I can have the throttle body under with the standard bonnet but no filter

A mate of mine has recently fitted a Super Victor to his VT SS, with FAST 1375cfm throttle body (no spacer). With a recessed filter, he can keep the whole thing under the bonnet.

Why?????
My thoughts exactly - a carby? In this day and age? On a modern car?

i can understand if you like the high rise manifold with the air filter out the bonnet look and all
but to go carby i think you would defently regret it.
efi is always gonna be the better option hands down.
