2011 Clipsal 500 Adelaide tarmac rally

from the 12th-16th of march i competed in the 2011 Adelaide 500 rally which started in horsham victoria and ended back in adelaide for the clipsal weekend, there was some amazing race cars there.
we managed to win our class, with it being my navigators first event, my forged 346 vy ss with near stock brakes took some unreal punishment and ran strong over the 4 day event considering 2nd in class was a vortec blown ve ss with monster harrop brakes and coil over suspension.
we are very pleased with the result and will push to complete the car into the ultimate tarmac rally commodore... i will keep you all posted with the progress and upcoming events, we also managed to pick up some good sponsorship after the win which is always handy.

What sort of lap times were folks getting around Mallala?

will get pics up as soon as i can get a card reader, photos aren't so good, hoping to receive some in the next few days also

i think the fastest car around mallala was around 1.17 being an r35 gtr and porsche gt3

we ran 1.23 which i was happy with only having 290rwkw and stock brakes and shocks.

through out this year i will develop the car in the way of bigger brakes, coil overs and a cage and run the legend of the lakes hillclimb in mt gambier in november, then attack the 2012 season strongly with the clipsal rally, world time attack challenge and targa high country and see where that takes us.

All cars inside the Top 20, 3 in the top 6

There was a Commodore running there this year, looked like Noodle bar Cheffy on the steer but I didnt get to have much of a look at how it went. Sounded like it had a cam when it was idling around the pits

The 240Z that holds the record must have some pretty amazing gear in it or driving it to be 2 seconds quicker than anything else. Highlight was definately RH9, thing just screams!
Will be there next year cheering for you DR, keep us updated on all your events.

Seb in the Willall Racing R35 GTR actually ended up winning the shootout for P1 in the end as the EVO 9 hit a cone and copped a 5 second penalty. Here is our little 'RH9' GTR warming up the tyres then leaving the line :)

Looking to defend my Top 10 spot (9th) from last year, which has become a lot harder....lot of fast cars entering. I figure a 54.5 will be the cut off for Top 10 in 2011, which is bloody quick.... :eek:

Wow thats insane, gunna be some real tough competition by the looks, my main worry in improved production 3001cc plus is a turbo a9x torana, sounds like a killer package to me lol,

What happened at the climb today? I heard its been called off following a crash. Hope all are ok.

They called off the final run sunday, which for me having power steering drama's all day saturday was very disappointing, only really got 3 runs sunday to sort the car out and get use to the road, finished 5th in class out of 11 which i guess wasn't too bad considering our circumstances, im sure Martin will add his bit about his weekend if he likes, he ran a good time that I know of,

There was a big crash saturday in a 32 or 33 GTR, driver not hurt but the car has seen better days

We won Best Presented car for the weekend too which I was happy with, will get photo's up shortly

but is early modern for targa's

you can run legend of the lakes and the clipsal rally withOUT a cage but you would need a cage for anything else,

I have an EVO X as well, will be running that as its a true Flex Fuel setup and very suited to the long transports :)

Thanks again Martin, you and Phil made life a lot easier for us leading up to the event, as for the tune, the car was a monster out there and certainly kept those evo's and sti's on there toes which I think only Selley and the Japline Evo were the only Evo's that were constantly faster than us all weekend, highlight of the weekend was definitely the final Paris creek stage, we drove the wheels of it and finished the stage 3rd outright and only 8 seconds behind the winning r35 GTR :D
