Found this amongst some browsing of some classic cars.
What it basically is, is that Street Machine have unveiled a top 60 of all their feature cars over the past 30 years that the magazine has been running.
Definately some classics in the gallery, quite hard to pick a favourite out of them all but there are definately some stand outs.

Gallery of Top 60 Street Machines (http://motoring.ninemsn.com.au/slideshow_ajax.aspx?sectionid=75583&sectionname=showroom&subsectionid=7801003&subsectionname=greatestmachine#1)

What are your favourites out of this list?

P.S Mods not sure if this in the correct sub forum but thought that since it was automotive discussion that it would be best suited here if otherwise feel free to move this thread into its respective area :).

Yep one of my favorites too
Also Ron Barclay's HQ ute still one of the most finally detailed cars i have ever seen.
You really did have to see it in the flesh to appreciate the amount of work that went into it, and this was back in 1990 :eeeeek:

mark Jones's 'Fat 57' i adored that big orange '57 when i was at high school couldnt belive when i actually got to see it at summernats. at that time it had been sold and ship to a bloke in the states but was back over here to have some more work done on it. couldnt belive my luck when i walked into the elite hall and seen it in the flesh for the first time.

Yep , seen it run at Cerberus navy base a couple of times ( yep , ironic eh , they held drags on a back street at the base in the mid 80's ), pretty awesome coming on and off the trailer......

And that was about it !

Some great cars in that list.

Speaking of Blow Bak. A friend of my Dad's bought it and I drove it out past Cowra (from Sydney) one weekend shooting with a mate. Had a 350 then but most other mods were still on it. Also still had the SMOTY plate (or a copy) on the inner guard.

I was there at cerberus, If I remeber correctly it ended up having harmonic balancer issues as it was one of the first blown holden V8's getting around.
Also that castrol coupe used to live near us at mornington at 1 stage

The thing I really enjoy looking at is the evolution of a street machine. Like Peter Fitzpatricks FC above. Look at it now compared when it was first shown with a HQ front chassis and a 327. Howard Astill gets another nod for the same reason with the evolution of this original rock falcons. Finally Howard Bell's SLR8000 Well... I remember seeing an early article (mid 80's from what I can remember) stating he has owned this car since brand new. This article in SM had it displayed with.... wait for it.... a turbo charged 202. That's right, he ditched the v8 for a turbo charged six before going in with that sweet keith black 8 litre engine.:goodjob:

Gee

Would find it pretty hard to settle on 3 votes...

Ron Barclay and Adam Le Brese well out in front for me, the HQ probably no 1.

Then Howard Astill's sedan (not in the version shown) and Peter Fitzpatrick's FC - cant split them, probably a little silly to try.

Shame they didn't think of something more like 'top ten' of all time, to celebrate the different kinds of cars people have built over the years.

Mark Sander's Torana is much more interesting and I would think highly developed that Howard Bell's, both great cars however - but neither maybe top ten of all time material.

Two of the FJs are amazing, everyone raved about McBeth's (SMOTY) but Colin Townsend's was a superb custom, built to purpose. But they aren't better than Rex Webster's.

Each of the Sant, Riskas, Grima, Hadfield Chevs are very high level cars.

Not to mention a couple of those HT and HQ coupes, or the Falcons of Parker and the Hilliers ...
