Hey guys, i have recently had my VE SS mafless tuned. It has full xforce exhaust, duspeed otr and its manual. It came back with 270rwkw. How is this compared to some of yours?
I now find that 2nd gear doesnt seem to be long enough and its on the limiter quite quickly at about 100kph?
thanks

Tune doesnt touch your gear box or gearing only way that will happen is if you change the diff gears, i think its all in your head man lol.
270 rwkw is about mid range for the type of mods you have done. Can range between low 250's and 280's depending on age of car, auto or manual and how hard a tune the shop gives it.

Yea it probably is. I think it just gets up to speed alot quicker haha. But yea i think 2nd gear tops out at like 100-110.
Yea ive seen that from a few people ive asked. He tuned it mildly. Ill try and get a pic of the graph up asap for everyone to look at.

270rwkw sounds about right for those mods.
I wouldn't worry about the figure to much along as your happy
with how the goes and fells.
Cheers steven

The only things which matter are a) the percentage gain given different dynos give different readings and even the same dyno can give different readings on different days and b) how it feels to you now as you drive it. A max rwkw figure by itself doesn't particularly mean a lot.

Yea well im pretty happy with it. I was just concerned about how little 2nd gear actually lasts for now after driving a mates 5.7 and it got around 120kph from 2nd. I didnt ask what it ran before the tune ill have to stop in and ask. He said he done a mild tune and ran the AFR at about 12-1 but going on the graph it does seem quite rich at high rpm.

Nice. I've got very similar mods on my ve clubsport 6.2L and am only making about 255rwkw.

That's the "law of dynos" right there. My Monaro has Extractors, opened cats, mafless and MCAI and pulls 236 RWKW. Your car and mine on the same dyno back to back I bet you'd see a wider gap than 20RWKW between them.

i have difillipo 1&7/8 headers, 100CPSI cats and 3" KPM exhaust as well as a Russo otrcai, i made 258rwkw... only disappointing thing for me was it went in with 250rwkw
i suspect the plugs might have had something to do with it too

I cant understand why your talking about 2nd gear like its magically changed since getting it tuned?? What speed you car will do in any gear is related to how it's geared and has nothing to do with it being tuned or not. Change you gearing and you will see a difference in gear speed. Because your mate has a 5.7ltr has nothing to do with it, earlier models had different gearing to now.

with just a mild tune and the DUS otr I have 240.9 rwkw mine is manual aswell so 270 - 280 is the norm for those mods thats what I will expect with my full exhaust when i get it well done enjoy

maybe the rev limiter is set lower now so it hits the limiter quicker then before
thats what happend to my vy when PT tuned it
it would hit the limiter before it changed in to second :flipoff:
it was auto

Yea i think it more to the point of it getting up to speed quicker so it may feel shorter if that makes sense.

Yea im not sure ill have to ask him about it and see. I was in at another tuner today justs stopping in and saying hi and he was showing me what he can do with the limiter on the vcm graph it looks pretty cool.

I think atomic may be onto it. It may be red lining earlier then it used to.

It's the box ratios in the VE that are shorter than the old mm6 in the ls1's. I have an m12 box in mine (same ratios as VE). With 3.73 diff gears I'm on the limiter (6800rpm) @ 101km/h in 2nd. That's why running 3.9s 4.11s is stupid in a VE.

yea 270 is quite good.. It seems to mellow out abit in the high rpm and not pull as hard so might get that checked out.

It would be because its reached the limits of the stock cam at that rpm only way to sort this out is a new cam.

Absolutely correct there boggers.
Craig, to be honest, I think the output is right in the ballpark here and to expect more with just bolt-ons and tune would be unreasonable. you could always find a happy dyno if you want it to show up at a higher output!
Unless the rev-limiter setting was lowered, then there is no reason why you'd 'hit' the rev-limiter more often, unless you are now enjoying the surfeit of power the tune has unlocked in the upper RPM range.

From memory CHE run saw first at around 215kw, after CAI, 3" cat back and tune for 98 juice I am seeing 249kw. I'd like to find out more about using E85 and what not when it's available so will be back to CHE to talk more, perhaps a set of headers too so will be good to see what those gains achieve.
Do you have any other plans?

Yea i am to interested on the E85 as i have seen very high numbers with this and apparently it makes the world of difference. But it is hard to find.
Not really at the moment i think ill be back in to the tuner in a week or 2 gettin a few tweaks as it was tuned with 95 in there aswell so ill see how we go.

My cars been on the rollers at hpf and Aps with a difference on 15kw. Don't look at the final figures just look at total gained.
Ps Ve cam is good till 0-120kms but seems to flatten off in my case. Bigger cam will fix this

And this is exaclty why I didn't dyno mine after the same mods+tune. So many different dyno's give different results, and at the end of the day you literally thrash the crap out of your car for some figures.
Mine is quick as shit (for me), couldn't care less what number it is :smilesandbanana:

Yea i did notice that looking at other dyno graphs. So i should be up closer to the 13? and not drop as much at high rpm?

If i can get my dyno sheet out pretty sure mine was up the 13 something mark, but yes looking at urs it would but u can see it would hugely affect it at high rpm where it really drops
Edit: after digging mine out the AFR's hover around the 13.1 mark then drop to 12.7ish at 6200rpm
