just had a 2.5 xforce mild steel exhaust fitted and whilst cruising whether at 100 50 or 60 in drive or sports mode it seems to make like a vibrating drone noise being in manual mode going back a gear or even still in m6 on highway it dissappears is there any way to rectify this love the exhasut note just the drone is irritatting

Yep, really easy fix.
Get something other than an X-Force system :)
Other than that...put the stock mufflers back on. So option 1 would be better there....

you could always change it to a T56 manual box :) Autos will drone at certain speeds, get an exhaust shop to have a look at it. They can change mufflers, add balance pipes or whatever is required.

Take it back to the Exhaust Shop and ask them to fix it for you ....

Or KPM :goodjob:
Actually, much as I put $hit on XFarce systems some are OK. I did a 200+km trip with someone in a VE SSV ute with a 2.5" XFarce and it was as quiet as a mouse till he floored it, but others have terrible problems with drone, even in manuals. worknssv had a 3" Xfarce behind 1 7/8" Pacies and Ballistic cats - absolutely no drone! Especially after about 18 months it started to sound very ordinary - hollow sounding. :spew:
His wife (my elder daughter) has just put a 2.5" XFarce on her VY V8 A4 behind long HM? tri y's and ballistic cats - sounds good and no drone.
Maybe whoever sold it to you did so because it was a droney one???

headers + cats make a difference no??
im sure half the catback systems (as a catback only) would drone?

Most people find headers and cats do reduce drone, but I remember reading about someone whose opinions/knowledge I respect (HRT8 from memory) saying after he put headers and cats on his WM the drone increased!

They will i always found x-force sound nice/better with headers & cats in front.

2.5 catback difilippo on a WM, absolutely no drone in any gear at any speed at any throttle in sport mode, manual mode or auto mode! Not sayin they are the best system just sayin they don't drone guaranteed!

I beg to differ, i had a full difilippo system on my ve ss previously & it droned after i upgraded to shorter diff gears.

It's a rev's / harmonics / frequency based issue - it isn't the actual exhaust that drones, it's the vibration that it causes on the car body.
To get around this, I actually have an old doona underneath the floor of the boot that deadens the vibration of the boot floor. It worked for me in the Monaro.

Full Difilippo system and catback system sound completely different, i am assuming the OP is just talkin catback. I have standard cats and manifolds =
no drone!

For the price and workmanship xforce is a good system and i think any system can drone abit untill it beds in. Properly the only person in history to do this, but i went from a diffillipo twin 3'' to a xforce twin 3'' and i found the later system as quiet inside the cabin. The diffillipo did drone its arse off, the first week it was on the car but went away with some carbon.
To note is the difffillipo is a true twin 3'' all the way thru the merge pipe section to the tips. The xforce merge is smaller and that why i felt an improvement in low down torque to the diffillipo but wasnt as good up top. The xforce is long gone now but i still prefered the xforce to the diffillipo system.

And fair enough as I was told that the 3" Difilippo catback system, with auto does tend to drone more so with standard cats, and manifolds, , but OP is talking about 2.5 inch and all I am saying is 2.5 inch difilippo catback , standard cats, standard manifolds in WM has no drone whatsoever, anyone who wants to come for a drive i will be more than happy to prove it!!
