View Full Version : E Series 1 - Senator v Senator Signature
Hey Guys,
I'm thinking about a S1 Senator as my next car, the MY09's with the 6.2 are now looking like a pretty good buy I reckon.
I used to think it was the colour coded skirts and lower front bar and presumably some more toys inside that differentiated a Senator from a Senator Signature, but looking at what's around the used car market it seems a bit hard to really work out what the differences (if any!?) really are...
Does anyone know for sure what I'd be missing out on if I picked up just a Senator rather than a Signature?
Thanks,
John
base Senator miss's out on front parking sensors, dvd, chrome window surrounds, mrc suspension, passenger mirror dipping in reverse, rims are silver instead of Shadow chrome like the signature & a couple of other minor things.

Thats enough for me to want a Signature tbh.

Has a signature badge on it :jester:
Awesome thanks for that! Strangely used prices don't reflect the difference as much as you'd think given that list!

So the Senators aren't based on a Calais V?

I think a lot of the dealerships out there have no idea either. The easy way is to think of the Senator as basically a Clubsport with leather. There is also no fully electric seat on the passenger side. Senator Sig has a lot more gear in other words.
I can't believe the prices some dealerships are trying to sell the base Senator for.

I think they also did a run of manual Senators in 2009?
They were really just a Senator body kit on a Clubsport.
They were selling them pretty cheap (way less than $60,000 drive away). I've seen some in dealerships for high $50s which is an absolute joke given what they were selling them for. Some of the dealerships must be getting confused between the signature and these 'basic' Senators.

Are they still doing the senator in manual at all?

Yes, you can order a Senator Signature (the only kind actually for sale at the moment) in auto or manual. At the time of these 'base' Senators they were auto only other than the SV08 and the short run of manual 'base' Senators.

There is not enough difference between the std anf sig version to justify the $11,000 difference in new car price.
But as OP said there is little price difference to tell now on the second hand market.
Check out differences on redbook.
