most likely strut bearings....
they dont last long, rattle when dying
so get them checked

+1 strut bearings

probably worn link pins, top mount bushes are more then likely worn & sagging, unless its "creaking" when turning the wheel it not the bearings but there not expensive to relpace if its apart and replacing top mount bushes..
Thetop mount bushes carry the full weight of the car, more so if the shocks are worn, which i guess would also be the case being an 07 model

top strut rubber mounts ill bet, ive just replaced them in my 07 Grange, if you have a gap between the body of the car and the top round rubber/metal plate they are rooted anyway, the good news is they are fairly easy to do and not expensive, other than that sway bar bushes and link pins that are worn can make some odd noises as you have described, again easy to replace and the bushes are cheap but the link pins are a bit exxy for what they are

My VE wagon has had what sounds like loose washers or the old style sway bar links that have lost a rubber type rattle. I can't find it, put the window down on a bridge with sides and you can hear it rattling every time you hit a minor imperfection. It sounds like loose washer with no load rattling on a bolt. I have been thinking it's the heat shield on the hsv extractors makes a similar noise when you tap it, but who knows. Windows up louder exhaust, can't hear it anymore.

i work at a holden dealership! and your problem will most likely be the strut top bushes as metioned above or d shaped rubbers where the sway bar actually mounts too the chassis! parts are not very expensive at all and around 2 hours too do the lot!

i have similar issues - when motors done, will be carting mine to a suspension shop to get a full check done
anyone in cairns got a suspension shop to recommend?
Hey guys,
I have a gap between the body and rubber ring on both sides of the struts so thinking the bushes need doing. Just wondering what people have been doing replacement wise, genuine or aftermarket?
Cost too if possible guys, cheers.

For people looking for more info on the earlier VE's extremely popular and well discussed front suspension noises check out the three threads on this subject down the bottom of the blue screen.

Mines an 07 VE and I had two different clunks/rattles and had to have the strut top mount/bearings and the d rubbers replaced. The d rubbers were so rooted they might as well not have been there.
I believe there was an updated rubber released otherwise go aftermarket
