Hi can anyone tell me if they know whether if i put a twin exhaust on my single system ve it will make it a bit quieter? Im not sure why later models went from single to twin system. Also do you think a can bolt up a twin system straight to the car easily...THANKS

That would have to be a first for this forum, someone wanting to make their car quieter. If its a single system than it must a V6, surely its pretty quiet to begin with? They went to the twin system when they went to the 3.0L SIDI

:yup:  (Ignoring those who've been EPAd :bawl:)
If anything I would guess that a twin system would be louder than a single???

Twin exhaust can fit and the noise level will rise with the dual exhaust but it will mostly depend on the mid and rear mufflers.
If you want it for the look then you can make the twin quiet but if you just want it to lower the noise level then stick to the single. Which ever way you go though the best way to reduce the noise is just to change the muffler/s, obviously stay away from the sports mufflers.
A fair few have upgraded their single systems to a dual, so you should be able find plenty of info.
Be aware that you will need extra parts to make the dual system fit as well, such as extra hangers, exhaust brackets, heat shield for the left side and as well as the rear diffuser with the dual ports.

Yeah want the dual system mainly for looks but i feel its a bit loud cause its quite noisy in the cabin under acceleration with the alloytec compared to my last car which was a vt berlina v6. Ive heard they also fitted a twin system to lower noise from engine / exhaust. They may have even added more insulation to reduce in car noise after the 07 make..

The twin exhaust wont make it any quieter. What you are describing is a characteristic of the early alloytecs, particularly the lower output LE0 version. There isn't much you can do to change it. You'll just have to come to terms with it (or turn the radio up). A vast number of running changes were made to VE over it's lifetime, including replacing the long skinny heatshields running each side of the transmission with a huge one piece insulated heatshield going all the way above the transmission, to cut down noise entering the cabin through the tunnel.
Replacing the single exhaust with a twin for looks has been covered several times on this forum. You should find one of the old threads ok with a search on VE twin exhaust.
