Has anyone heard, or have a Walkinshaw catback on there VT-VZ ? I do know Walkinshaw have a system for VT-VZ , can anyone comment, do they have similar sound as on a VE?? Have tried searching but a relatively unheard of system on the VT-VZ.

I've got a twin 3" on mine. It sounds as good or better than any other setup I've heard. Mine is coupled with 1 3/4 Pacemaker extractors, 3" stainless Pacemaker cats and a 220 220 cam. When I added 243 heads and bumped up the compression to about 11:1 it made it a bit louder again.
The best part was I picked it up for under $1000 as Walkinshaw was clearing excess stock earlier in the year. I'm pretty sure they can still be bought for around $1300 which is on par with some cheaper systems. It is a quality exhaust with perfect welds and the billet tips look good as well.
Here are pics before I fitted it.

Seem to appear more common lately (probably due to the ebay specials) but still not as popular as the usual suspects...
Don't really know why, made by HM, so they will be good quality but I guess HM systems are never as common for some reason either?
Don't mind the billet tips

Cut the crappy xpipe out of the xforce systems and they actually have a pretty decent note.
Otherwise they sound like a V6 on steriods IMO.

Is it the X Pipe that give that raspy note, as same other brands are made with H Pipe

Yerp, replace that X with a H or straight pipes and you'll get a proper split pulse sound.
Some people wank on over HP but for a street car you wont notice a difference and those "X" pipes are a joke anyway, they're just 2 45degree bends with the arse cut out and welded together. Probably cause more of a blockage then anything.

I wasn't really "hating" on that system, I guessed that it would sound similar to the Xforce item due to the fact that it is, very very similar. Then made the comment that they (IMO) can be made to sound allot better without that Xpipe.

Yep I did it to my old mans SS, he has my old Xforce system, Cut the BS Xpipe out of it and the sound is 100% better, still thrashy, but that's mainly because the mufflers are shit. The pulsing note is allot better.

I'm catching up with him on Friday, so I'll get a video of it from inside the car under load. Sounds allot better then with that POS Xpipe. Bottom end torque seemed to pick up a bit too. (By which I mean, it felt a little stronger off idle, no proof either way. Just the butt dyno)

Just got two bits of pipe, put a small flair on either end so that the original pipe would slide into it a little, and welded them in as straight pipes, no balance pipe.
Took maybe half an hour and cost $15 for some flanges.

My 2 cents, a twin 3'' on a LS1 without a cam does sound s@#t house, two big drain pipes with the exhaust flow slows , twin 2.5'' xforce sound alot better than the twin 3'' xforce, on a LS1 of course, add a cam...twin 3'' is a different kettle of fish,

I did couple of clips with my phone. The one I did free revving and then accelerating sounds pretty bad so I won't post it up. Here is the drive by one which just sounds ok. My nephew took one on his phone as well so I'll try and get that later.
Drive by with Walkinshaw twin 3" - YouTube
Soopy. Yours sounds good.
The only thing with mine is, when you free rev it like that, it makes a bit of a "fluttery" sound as the revs drop back quickly. It also does it when I change gears after winding it out a bit. It's a hard sound to describe. I'd consider having the x removed if it would get rid of it, but it will probably make louder and more prone to drone as well.

Soopy, what is the rest of the exhaust system extractors and cats wise cause those video's dont sound anything like the x-force systems i have heard. are the cars bolt ons or cammed etc
if people are going to try and compare the systems we need full details.
ive had redback cat back (h-pipe twin 2 1/4 into single 3)on stock cats with 1 3/4 4-1 and that wasnt bad bolt on, was nicer with cam. then went to a twin 2.5 x-force sounded better then swapped the factory cats for 200cpi metal sub cats was better note at idle and alot crisper at 3000rpm upwards then went to a s/s twin 3 x force and that sounds better again only one that droned was the redback.
but from all of the above the thing that changed the sound the most was swapping the factory cats to metal core at 200cpi.

Anything with that much of a merge between banks is going to kill the v8 note, especially at low rpm.

are you serious!?!?!? that was the worst sounding V8 I have ever heard, the point to a nice v8 sound is the deep tone not a loud tinny resonance.
one thing a LS1 will not be able to beat a aussie 5L on is the note the 5L could give out. THe LS1 sounds like sh1t with out and exhaust (ie drags) or no cats or apparently in this case no merge pipe

If that's the worst v8 you've heard, you need to get on youtube more!
X pipes are not known to give a deep tone, more of a higher pitched exotic, raspy sound.
If you look at the DF systems (which many consider the best sounding on the vt-vz), you'll see they've designed it with the two pipes just touching, so hardly any merge between the two banks.
Totally agree with the holden 5.0 been the v8 sound king, they even sound good with a single:bow:

My hearings fine lads :jester:.
If I wanted a LS1 to sound like a old carbied V8 I would of bought one instead.
As we have all said, Exhaust sounds is very opinionated but each to there own.
If you think the Xpipes are the only thing that determines the sound then you'd be wrong.
Everything in an exhaust contributes to the sound, whether that be type of metal used, muffler size construction and placement, cat size and CPI, type and size of headers...... the list goes on.
