View Full Version : Noise on abrupt (but small) throttle opening?

Hey guys,

Noticed another weird noise on the SS tonight. Was giving it a bit of a rev in the shed after driving home from dinner and noticed that when I gave the throttle a short, sharp jab there's some sort of weird hollow sounding noise...

It's sort of like blowing a raspberry through a hose pipe? Like something is opening (other than throttle opening :p )

Since I can't describe stuff well, here's a clip (245kb):

It's probably something completely normal like the sound of sudden air through the airbox or a change in pressure in the intake system. But as I don't know what it is, it'd be nice to learn :)

Ideas, gentlemen?

Sudden air through a non-factory air box. Totally normal.

Hmm... mine is stock? :P

Perhaps I'll check the airbox piping tomorrow in daylight.

sounds completely normal to me, mine does it. Its just the air rushing past the throttle blade.

Yeah, I felt it must either be vacuum or air-flow related due to sudden changes in throttle position... I'd just never heard it before! 9000km of driving the thing and I'm still only just noticing some things :)
