View Full Version : What Carbon Fibre bits do you want for your commodore?

Hey all,
Have a mate thats nuts about Carbon Fibre. What started out as a hobby of Carbon Fibre parts in the Import Scene is now being blown into a business, website, etc....all still in progress.
So this is not a for sale thread as such as he will pursue forum sponsorship once he has products to sell and advertise for.
More so this is a thread on opinons on what people want? Tell me what part? model of car? and even a pic please
The VE Front spoiler kit is pretty much near end of development with production coming up very soon. He has currently got a couple samples of the VE Front Spoiler kit sitting at his house and here they are for your viewing pleasure:
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/Deano_22/DSC05427.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/Deano_22/DSC05447.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/Deano_22/DSC05451.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/Deano_22/DSC05476.jpg
To adhere to the forum rules, I will create a for sale thread for the sample thats been on a test car hence USED.
So tell me what you want. He wants to generate parts that are gonna sell as it takes months of back and forth development work with alot of $$$$ to get to the point where he can get batches produced hence before he can sponsor on a forum and quote prices, etc he actually needs to get through the long development period.
any questions feel free to post here or pm me
Dean :)

forgot to mention he is looking into the G8/CalaisV boot lip spoiler and also the rear bumper diffuser.
the rear bumper diffuser is gonna be an interesting one...
few options we are juggling:
1) standard one minus the honeycomb mesh
2) G8 style one without the honeycomb mesh
3) an agressive track orientated one. one with bigger fins they hang lower along with ones to mount on the sides of the VE rear bumper on those indented fins that run from near the exhaust tips to the rear tyre
Looking for ideas that are not just VE...VT-VZ also
Is he interested in doing any Ford bits? :hide:

Hi Dean,
Is he doing interior bits as well or just exterior?
I'd like some carbon fibre on the inside of my ute, maybe the bit around the gear stick and window controls etc.
Cheers.

All the usual ve interior pieces,
Dash strips, steering wheel spoke cover, gear stick surround, centre console shroud,
I would even say doing the bit behind the seats in the ute with the ss badge on it.
Cheers
Matt

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/Deano_22/DSC05387.jpg
Next parts will be BA, BF turbo engine cover and FG turbo engine cover
for the guys asking about interior parts....thats the tricky ones. They are usually complext shapes with pieces to lock them into place and attach switches etc. They are difficult to replicate purely out of carbon fibre.
He can have almost any part laminated in genuine carbon fibre. So you get the look but not the weight reduction as it is still the standard part underneath. Thats what he would recommend for interior parts. The benefit of lamination is no mold is required

The G8 boot lip and diffuser for sure, I would be sure to grab one or the other if they ever went into production.

Front splitter (Monaro as well please)
Bonnet
front and rear bumpers

side skirts
dash fascia
exterior and interior door handles

For small plastic parts I would just cover them in 3M di-noc (ie grilles, mirrors, etc)
However I would be keen on a VY SS front splitter after seeing some pics

Certainly the rear GXP diffuser in carbon. I'd prefer the matte look but as I also have a bit of a hankering for Carbon I'd take either. I suspect there is also a big market for that rear lip spoiler in CF. Similar to the Walkinshaw one but I'm hoping not as expensive.
And PS, I'll buy the front sample....... ;-)

Hey Deano good to see EXCESSV is still getting some upgrades mate :) I'd love to see a few things available -
- VY/VZ rear diffuser with more aggressive fins + a fin in the centre where the tow bar cap goes
- Senator style spoiler as it utilises the same spoiler holes, which keeps it as an easy swap/upgrade + houses centre tail light ($700+ unpainted for genuine from Holden/HSV)
- Cap to go over the centre lower splitter (maybe even both splitters??) on the front bar
I'm not sure how viable the wing mirror domes will be, they're bloody difficult to remove from what I've been told.
Cheers man hope all's going well still :)

What about the g8 front garnish with either honeycomb carbon-fibre , or instead of honeycomb put mesh like jag grills
its lighter and stronger and i think it would look much better

+1 for the CF G8 bootlip spoiler. Also just throwing it out there as it is probably too fiddly but how about some sort of CF Holden dinner plate badge... :hide:
I would buy a front and rear today...
For those that are keen on the g8 carbon rear lip - I have a b/new one of these available - http://maverickmancarbon.com/archives/9 - they are 30mm higher than the g8 factory lip and under half the weight! The finish is 2nd to none!

Anything that reduces the weight of these flabby big cars!
Doors, bonnet, guards, seat shells, etc. Carbon fibre isn't for looks unless you're a try hard.

Plenty of great suggestions here. I have just received my maverick man rear insert and bonnet scoops for my VZ Monaro. One part I would love to see is cf is the front window sill for all models. The plastic fades and looks terrible and cheap. Wouldn't mind cf front grilles as well :)

A W427 styled 3 pice rear spolier for a VE GTS would be magnificent. I have been scouring the internet for months with no success. Would need to be able to use the same mounting holes as the factory wing.
Not interested in a senatoror or calais bootlip. Needs to be 3 piece similar to the W427. I would buy one in a heart beat.
