What's the best option to get a exhaust done? I'm thinking of getting 2.25 inch or 2.5 inch what is the best option Cheers:)

hey mate, you can go just the rear mufflers which liven them up heaps, just some straight throughs, anything more is rather obnoxious in sound/drone/etc.
I went straight through pipes from the rear mufflers and the sound is insane, I would just go straight through sports mufflers if your not for crazy noise level.
If you want good QUALITY sound, then go some extractors and high flow cats, with sports mufflers at the rear.
The middle part of the exhaust, from the cats to the rear mufflers contains a large centre muffler which you will want to keep, if you take that out, the drone is unbarable, the key is keep the big centre muffler, change the rear mufflers to something that looks good (quads?) and is straight through (no insides), and if your really keen quality of sounds then the extractors/cats as mentioned.
If you want a cheap solution get a Xforce 2.25 in catback, I havent heard of how good the sound is or the noise level, but I can imagine it would be fairly loud. Try ebay for a cheap xforce system or your local exhaust shop.
Hope this helps, Jono.

Oh and also, you could try and get a 2.5inch system second hand, and just use the mufflers for the rear, but I had to get the hangers where it holds the muffler shifted a little, the 2.5in mufflers sounds good, nice meaty note, I dont suggest straight through pipes as its louder than anything else on the road, I also think its very illegal in terms of not keeping the same amount of mufflers that it came with from factory and its noise level, sounds crap, but very loud

I dont have a video, I can get one up for you, I have the xforce 2.5 rear mufflers on atm because I like to mix it up.

Heres a photo I have of my car with the xforce mufflers, you need to keep in mind the ute has a longer exhaust system, so the tips extend further, make sure you keep this in mind. Notice how the tips are one sided, well my local exhaust guy straightened the hangers up for me and cut/welded the flange to make it straight...$50 and all done.

Why don't you use a standard Ve ss exhaust- fairly cheap

jono0309 - was the guy who fixed your exhaust blind! that looks terrible! (unless that was the before pic)

and anything larger than 2.25" on a v6 sounds awful (I learned the hard way)

jono0309 I don't want to bag but don't you think the exhaust looks a bit off there? They look fairly close to the splitter, especially the tip on the right!

To the OP, never done a V6 exhaust but would think anything over 2.25 is going to be way too big and sound terrible with lots of drone. Speak to someone from Sureflo or another exhaust shop as to what they'd recommend. Maybe get rid of the rear mufflers and put in some resonators instead?

haha boys, this was before the exhaust got straightened! I was trying to prove that because the 2.5inch system is for a V8, the rear mufflers bolting to a standard catback doesnt align with the flanges and hangers, thus getting them straightened. (Read the blurb I posted with the photo).
Agree with above...rear mufflers is the way to go, anything bigger than a 2.25 catback/2.5inch rear mufflers would be loud with drone.

V6 loud + p plates = defect, just a thought.

If you drive like a d!ckhead, then expect the cops to try and find things to defect you for... I get a fair bit of cop attention, but they like it, even highways don't care, not as though I have a turbo in there!

No such thing as a good sounding V6 :)

If you want it loud, then go the twin 2.5" but loud doesn't mean good - it will be quite droney and to most people will sound terrible.

The twin 2.25" is a much better option for the V6.

Yeh I think I'm gonna go for the 2.25 inch but hopefully it is going to be loud enough that I want

Expensive way to do it but someone put a used (3rd hand) KPM 2.5" on an SV6 and it sounded good for a 6. See http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=1304115&#post1304115

Alternatively, a very cheap but effective solution. :D
