Can anyone adivise if there are any benefits in replacing the standard LS2 Roller rockers with aftermarket Roller rockers with roller tips when doing cam and valve spring upgrade.

if you get 1.8 roller rockers it will raise the cams lift which is always good unless ur cam already has decent 620+ lift

So appart from the ratio change there are no benefits ?

the only benefit i know of is the increased lift but i dont know the finer details of the roller rockers etc.

Typical benefits are less wear on the valve guides, less twist on the valve when using shaft mounted pairs, but this doesn't translate into power gains and is very hard to justify for the costs.
Unless you are building an engine which will see sustained high rpm, don't worry about them. The standard rockers do a good enough job.
If you are changing the cam anyway, there is no point getting rockers to increase the lift. Just get a cam with the right amount of lift in the first place.

Cheers Guy's, makes sense in regards to less ware with the roller tip. And as you said no HP increase, that's good enough for me.

what sort of hp increase would you expect with the higher ratio rockers on a stock cam?

I had roller rockers put in when my Higgins ported heads went on mostly because "I have roller rockers" sounds cool. I thought why not they should help a bit for wear and powerwise I would guesstimate 3-4hp would be about it.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread. I'm thinking about doing the heads on my LS1 and at the same time was going to add the 1.8 roller rockers. The car's already fitted with a cam with 571/573 lift and with my calculations this should see it around 605/607 with the 1.8s. Would this be a worth while addition as I know LS1s like lift of 600+.

Depending on the series of the cam lobe that lift may not be recommended with a 1.8 ratio rocker.. you will need to check this.

Ok, thanks for that, I'll do a bit of research. Cam is a Comp Cam XR series.

Whats the part number? It should be on the Comp Website on the cam specs page from memory.

Another more affordable (and better in some ways) option is the Comp Cams Trunion upgrade kit for the standard rockers.

XR281HR, Part No. 54-428-11. Tried looking on the comp website but the rockers they suggest on the spec sheet are both unavailable so I don't know what ratio they are. I'll have a good look this arvo.

Thanks anyway mate. There are a few guys on the US forums using them with this cam so it should be ok. I'll definately check before doing anything. If I do go ahead with the heads I'm sure Higgins will steer me in the right direction on the rockers. Havn't decided between heads or SC yet anyway.
