I welcome anyone considering a new suspension set up in their VE to come and take one of our cars for a drive and see your self how good they are,

Looks/sounds impressive. Advantages over the Pedders XA coilovers which are the most popular kit around with many people very happy with them?

Hi Wonky,

Many people are very happy with the pedders set up and have heard many good things about them, the main difference from what i can see here is, the progressive rate spring that we use, it takes a lot of the harshness out of the ride,

The ride comfort, even with them set all the way to hard is still acceptable for road use, and has a fantastic feel on the track too,

In the end I suggest you take both for a drive if you have the opportunity and you can tell the difference, as the customers that have bought this new set up have told me when they purchased them.

They really did impress me when I was testing them and I have had them in my car since December 2010.

Thanks for the comments, and please note in terms of comfort compared to the Pedders Coilovers, this is just my opinion.

Mark.

Hi Mark, i have the Tein fully adjustable coilover kit on my clubby, how does your kit compare, i have not done many kms in my yet but feels really good at this stage. Ian

Hi hurricane,

I haven't driven on the Tein COILOVER Setup, so it wouldn't be right for me to comment on the ride quality,

Our Set up adjusts the ride height from the base of the coilover, therefore it doesn't reduce your damper travel, so you are always running the same distance from the bump stops on our system, that way you can have a smooth, compliant ride at any height that you set it to,

I believe that the Tein's adjust the height by compressing the spring and reducing the amount of travel the shocks have and increasing the firmness as you lower the car.

We also have a progressive rate spring which gets firmer the more it travels, so the initial response isn't as harsh when driving on degraded roads.

Along with that, we have a 3 year, 100,000klm warranty when fitted to a new car,

To be honest a coilover will give you a much better feel of control on turn in and feel more stable, the Tein's are a great brand and I am sure you will be happy with them,

And again I welcome you to come down and take one of our cars for a drive to form your own opinion, no obligation and would be great to get your feedback, if your in the area with a spare ten minutes.

I have a set of the pedders extreme coilovers on my ve ss sedan and would not recommend them just after the first 12 Months I had a rear pass side shock that was replaced now it has blown again within 6 months there initial comment for the cause was that the gyres are too low in profile but I am still running factory 18s so this is a lame excuse for a poor product.

Hi Wonky,

.....................

OK, thanks Mark. I remember coming over and seeing you with Ron Sutherland quite a few months ago and was impressed at what you were doing to provide customers with cars which had performance and handling improvements over stock while retaining (your) warranty. :goodjob: These coilovers sound the goods! If I win some on Lotto I'd love to get some.

From all I've read the Teins are harsh compared to even the Pedders, so sounds like Racesport's should be even better again! :yup:

That sounds like a great set up..
I had Pedders XA on my VE SS and my good did my kidneys feel it.
The Handling was awesome with negative camber and the car looked the goods, but it was really harsh.
The dash almost popped out of its place a few times when I went over a slight bump on the road :demon:
I'll be coming down for a spin  :D

Have to agree the Tiens are harsh, I have these fitted to my VX. Have heard the Bilsteins provide a great road holding and behave well in terms of ride quality. Once again a story of you get what you pay for.

I'm going to echo the thoughts of those who've already posted, as for those people like myself at the moment, who are uncertain about which way to go for their suspension set-up, it would be hugely beneficial to hear anyone's thoughts between these brands.

I've read good and bad things about both Pedders and Teins, but for the equivalent amount of money one would drop on either of those supplied and fitted, this set-up has got me interested... ;)

HotBoZ, if you do go for a spin, please post about your experience!

Hi Mark, do you guys have any NZ agents/installers?

Sorry Steve at this stage we don't, however, we supply the suspension with full instructions for install so your local holden dealer/holden tuner should be able to get it in with no stress at all.

Thanks

And this is what one of our cars looked like with a nice set of wheels that sit beautifully in the guards.

Goodwork!!!

I will have a look into that for you, we havent set them that low at this stage as we have to send all our cars out at a roadworthy height,

But i will look into it and re post,

Thanks, Mark

Thanks Mark,

Curious to heights as I run 22's daily and u need to be able to drop the suspension fairly well to get the desired height as of the extra rolling diameter, I am fairly low suspension wise and still covering 5 inches under car fine but would like to level the rear a little further if possible with these coilovers.
Also run the 19's for track days etc so being able to lift it up slightly for these and the extra camber would be great!!

Cheers!

Sounds like it would suite you perfectly,

One thing to note however is if you go too low, you will still have the same amount of travel in the suspension, so you may find that the tyres will rub on the top of the wheel arch on the inside, you may also need to dial in some NEG camber on the front to make it clear the bolt cover in the front wheel arch.

This system was designed for Precise handling on the track and on road compliance, it wasn't really for ultra low fitments thats why we have left the travel in the shocks and springs there.

If you aren't going too hard when it is that low you should be ok, but you do run that risk with this system. but if you have the clearance under the guards then you will be sweet.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark: i was meant to ask what are the wheels pictured above ?

They are a wheel from ForgeStar, we are working on bringing them in ourselves, we are still working out the right clearances that are required at this stage, then we plan to bring them in direct, once they are certified and load rated and ADR approved.

We would be looking at getting them in as 20" X 10 Rear and 20" x 9 at the front, staggered fitment only,

They are a very very light flow forged alloy ideal for the road with the right combo for the track when the need arrises.

Thanks,

Mark

Had my RS350 SSV Redline Sportwagon for a month now. All i can say about the suspension is WOW!

In my VTII SS, i could go around a large roundabout in the dry at 60k's, on the edge. With GTS 18's and Michelin Tyres.

In the VE, this morning, in heavy rain, i managed the same speed, without feeling at all like i was about to understeer off the road! Standard Redline 19's and Brigestones.

The confidence this thing inspires is amazing.

Now i need to recalibrate myself to keep up with the car, i'm not used to cornering so easily.

Now bring on the VCM MY12 OTR and the tune! I can't wait. They tell me 2-3 weeks.

Thanks Racesport, i'm very happy so far.

Only saw this post just now. I now have the H&R coilovers and it's definitely not the H&Rs as they only come with height adjustment (I've never missed having bump/rebound because I'm sure if I had those I'd be forever changing them trying to find the "perfect" settings, as others I know do). The Bilstein shockers on the H&Rs do their thing well without all that stuffing around. One good thing about the Racesport coilovers, same as the H&Rs, is they appear to have decent sized springs, unlike the narrow width ones on the Pedders (and Teins??) coilovers which seems to contribute to their harshness. A few people who know Pedders coilovers have commented on how compliant (not harsh) my ute is comparatively.

Hi Wonky, have adjusted my damper settings on my tein coilover setup and it has transformed the harshness in the ride no end, am very happy with it now did some testing in the hills not far from home and its totally different than before.

Funnily enough, i love to tinker, i haven't touched the bump/rebound at all!

The way they set it i believe is mid way and i haven't felt the need to change it at all.

So everything i said in the last post was at that setting.
