Whincup and Holdsworth have elected to start on Dunlop's soft tyre- the only two in the field to do so. Each car must use the soft tyre at some stage during the race.

Race Start- Yesterday's combatants Whincup and Winterbottom start on the front row.

Winterbottom gets a flier of a start, Whincup is slow off the line and drops back to mid pack.

Holdsworth gets past Winterbottom for the lead. Cars are still bucnhed tightly on the first lap.

Lap 2 - Tander brakes deep into turn one and has moved up to 8th from 15th starting spot. Whincup sits back in 5th but gets past Will Davison for 4th because he has the pace on the softer tyre.

Lap 3 - Holdsworth leads by 3.5 seconds from Winterbottom, Lowndes, Whincup, Will Davison, D'Alberto, Alex Davison, Tander, and Reynolds.

Lap 4 - Whincup gets past his teammate to move into 3rd. He then gets past Winterbottom at the last turn and is now second, but almost 5 seconds behind race leader Holdsworth.

Lap 5- Van Gisbergen harasses Reynolds for 10th and gets past into turn one.

Lap 6 - Holdsworth holds race lead from Whincup by 5 seconds

Lap 7 - Van Gisbergen puts a move on his teammate Davison and moves into 8th.

Lap 9 - Holdsworth leads by 4.8 seconds from Whincup, Winterbottom, Lowndes and Davison.

Lap 11- Jason Bright suffers engine failure heading down the front straight and spins off track. Bright's car leaves a big trail of oil on track and Courtney and Reindler slip off track also.

Lap 12- Rick Kelly slides off track due to the oil. Safety car is called.

Lap 13- Most of the field chooses to pit under safety car. Holdsworth and Whincup both switch to hard tyres.

Will Davison, Dumbrell, Coulthard and Moffat are the only drivers not to pit.

Lap 14- Race restart. Alex Davison attempts pass on the outside but gets caught on the oil and slips off track.

Lap 15- Will Davison leads Dumbrell, Coulthard and Moffat but all are yet to pit. Holdsworth is the effective race leader in 5th.

Greg Murphy is the only driver on soft tyres at this stage of the race.

Lap 18- Holdsworth rounds up Dumbrell and moves into second. Whincup follows suit with an aggressive pass on Dumbrell.

Lap 19 - Lowndes overtakes Tander to move into the top ten.

Lap 20 - Winterbottom gets past his FPR stablemate Dumbrell for 4th.

Lap 21 - Holdsworth passes Will Davison and tales back the race lead. Whincup is now less than a second behind the #33 Fujitsu Racing Commodore.

Lap 22 - Tander is slowing and has dropped to the rear of the field. He heads to pit lane.

Lap 23 - Tander's #2 HRT Commodore is pushed into the garage.

Greg Murphy has made his way up to 5th courtesy of running on the soft tyre.

Lap 25 - Winterbottom passes his teammate Davison and moves into third.

Lap 26 - Van Gisbergen is on a charge and pressures D'Alberto who is running in 7th. Dumbrell, Slade, Reynolds and Johnson are locked in a tight battle for tenth.

Lap 27- Whincup has ranged up on the back of Holdsworth, they are separated by less than half a second.

Lap 28 - Whincup gets past Holdsworth at turn six and tales the race lead for the first time today.

Ingall attempts pass on Johnson into turn one, who in turn bumps Reynolds and sends him off track. Ingall now 9th.

Lap 29 - Will Davison makes first pit stop, is complaining about his car balance. He stays on hards and will do a short stint on softs at the end of the race.

Lap 30- Top Ten: Whincup, Holdsworth, Winterbottom, Murphy, Lowndes, Van Gisbergen, D'Alberto, Slade, Ingall and Caruso.

Lap 31 - Tander is back out on track but is 27th and six laps down.

Lap 33- Van Gisbergen gets around Murphy and is now running 5th. D'Alberto and Slade also get past Murphy, who has clearly seen the best of his soft tyres.

Lap 34 - After a horror start and dropping back to the rear of the field, Steve Johnson has worked his way back into 10th.

Lap 35 - Murphy pits and switches to hard tyres. Half race distance and most of the field still have a set of soft tyres at their disposal.

Lap 36- Whincup has created a gap of almost 5 seconds to second placed Holdsworth.

Lap 38 - Michael Caruso has moved from 20th up to 10th spot- a good run from the second Fujitsu Racing car so far.

Lap 40 - Whincup has now extended his lead to 7.4 seconds. Race order is Holdsworth, Winterbottom, Lowndes and Van Gisbergen.

Rick Kelly pits and switches to softs, with 28 laps remaining.

Lap 42 - Holdsworth is the first to blink, and pits. Whincup follows him in. Both continue with another set of hard tyres.

Lap 44 - Alex Davison and Courtney pit.

Lap 45 - Todd Kelly pits, in a similar incident to yesterday the air spike jams and he drives off. The team removes it and he continues.

Lap 46 - Lowndes, Van Gisbergen, D'Alberto, Ingall, Johnson and Webb and Reynolds pit.

Lap 47 - Todd Kelly slows, there is an issue with the left front tyre and he has to nurse the #7 Jack Daniel's Commdore back to pitlane.

Lap 49 - running order is Whincup, Will Davison, Holdsworth, Dumbrell, Winterbottom, Lowndes, Coulthard, Van Gisbergen, Slade and Moffat.

Lap 50 - Winterbottom is on a charge, he is the highest placed driver on softs in 4th, but almost 13 seconds behind race leader Whincup.

Lap 52 - Lowndes, also on softs, pressures Winterbottom for 4th and gets past.

Lap 53 - Will Davison pits for soft tyres, and rejoins in 18th and 43 seconds from the lead.

Lap 54 - Whincup leads Holdsworth by 5 seconds, ahead of Lowndes, Winterbottom, Van Gisbergen, Slade, Ingall, D'Alberto, Johsnon and Davison- who are all on softs.

Lap 56- Courtney heads to the garage.

Lap 58 - Lowndes passes Holdsworth into turn two and moves into second. He's now less than 5 seconds behind his teammate and race leader Whincup.

Lap 58 - Reindler has a high speed off at the approach to turn eleven. Safety car is called. With just over 10 laps to go we are in for a dramatic finish!

Lap 62 - Race restart #2. Lowndes attacks Whincup into turn two and hits the race lead.

Winterbottom passes Whincup and moves into second. Van Gisbergen is now attacking Whincup for 3rd.

Lap 63 - Van Gisbergen into 3rd. Will Davison gets past D'Alberto and is into 13th. He has the freshest soft tyres of the top twelve.

Lap 64 - Slade and Ingall pass Whincup, the series leader is now in 6th.

Van Gisbergen gets past Winterbottom for 2nd. Van Gisbergen and Lowndes have the same tyre life on their soft set of tyres.

Lap 65 - Will Davison jumps into 9th. There is just over a second between Van Gisbergen and race leader Whincup.

Lap 66 - Coulthard suffers engine problems and drops back. A forgettable day for Walkinshaw Racing.

Lap 67 - Van Gisbergen passes Lowndes for the race lead, with two and a half laps to go.

Lap 68 - Two laps remaining. Van Gisbergen leads from Lowndes, Winterbottom, Slade and Ingall.

Final lap - Slade is catching Winterbottom. Van Gisbergen hangs onto the race lead.

Race Finish- Van Gisbergen wins from Lowndes, Winterbottom, Slade, and Ingall.

Series leader Whincup finishes sixth.

This is Van Gisbergen's second race win of his career, and the second race win by Ford this year.
