Hi All,

It was worth going to check out the new Holdens even thought the Volt was missing! & Interesting to check the competion out New Ford Territory, Volkswagen has taken to coping the Japanes (there is irony) Scirocco back end looks like a Mazda, Amtrak evovled from Toyota Hilux albiet with visually messy engine plumbing, but more bolder like a Tundra US version.
Kia & Hyundai have pickefd up their design games, Skoda (Czech VW) a Fabia that have the look of a mini cooper.
Best real new sports car ... New Cayman, nice body droool ...

Electric Green cars a plenty and that's were Holden screwed up big time I feel at least any way!
Here is my rant posted on GM forum:

SACK the Holden Sales Market manager immediately.:flipoff:
Why?
Were was the GM VOLT?
Oh that's right in Port Melbourne at the deisgn studio or at Lang Lang Proving ground
and ZERO at the show! IDIOTS!

GM Holden looked like a complete buch of ass hats-I think that the correct NA term, with the nice Holden lass telling me no till next year.... Here's a news flash there is no Melbourne Motor Show in 2012 as we alternate yearly with Sydney since the GFC.

Meanwhile at other more intelligent marketing car companies wooing nature lovers .....
There were
x3 NISSAN LEAFS on their stand with one on a DYNO !
x1 at Goverment sponsored stand and x1 at project "Better Place" = x5

x1 IMEV Mitusbishi

Numerous blue (green) prototypes and custom hybrid there was even Chinese Electic cars!

Now since it's "cool" to be green at the moment with EV's where in the heck was HOLDEN with the VOLT?
How dumb can anyone get!
GM give them on a platter a marketers green card of a wet dream (the VOLT) and they blow it by not even brining it to the show? Sigh~ End of Rant.

PS at least the Holden HSV utes a long with the Walkinshaw ones were fantastic and made a visual impact on the public along with the Colorado Ute!

Had a great day, heaps to look at must say the electric cars were pretty impressive :goodjob:

Have to say the VE's are starting to look very outdated not only the exteriors but also the interiors. Having all the different car makers under the one roof and being able to sit in one make then make a direct comparison to them they really are starting to show their age.

Three favorite cars would have to be

The concept colorado
Hyundai Genesis
The tucker

My god... Are you sure that's really a Hyundai. Hate to say it but I'd really consider one of them

It's strange the pre-conceptions you have about cars.
Disappointment was the interior of some of the audi's specially S3 & A1, considering they always get talked up they seemed very cheap to me. As well as the new focus and current fiesta were full of hard plastics and ergonomics were crap. GTP interior was also a bit of a let down, seats were nice but dash was very plan and didn't seem any different to the base xr6.
Suprises were the new Hyundai elantra and i40, sitting in those I would never guess they were a Hyundai, they put our local brands to shame aswell as a lot of others. The other suprise for me was the new Suzuki swift, while the s concept looked horn even the inside of the base model felt very nice, upmarket for it's price, almost vw polo like.

How good was the i40 :goodjob:
I too was surprised at just how well built they are now and they really do put the local offerings to shame.

Agree, I sat in the new ssv and while it was nice and had a few more gadgets I really don't think the interior has come that far in 8years compared to my vy SS.
My favorite was the golf gti, the interior in those vw's is quality and put a lot of the dearer cars to shame. I will defiantly be considering one of these for my next upgrade.

Jesus - You've been in Melbourne for 5 minutes and you are already yuppy-ing it up!

The worst thing about becoming a VW driver is telling your parents that you are gay!!!

PS - Why is the beer in my fridge, still in my fridge?

me & the misses went the motor show today & we were very impressed with the cruze hatch, I had a good look at the colorado, the engineer I spoke to said the paint job on that ute was 60 grand for the show.
might be a vt & a vectra hatch & a ve clubby for sale at years end.
got a house to build next year so a ute will come in handy, I looked at the lambo but would,nt get much timber in it
