For Sale: 2007 VE Commodore SSV sedan
Car: Holden VE Commodore SSV sedan
Engine: L98 6.0L V8
Trans: 6 speed manual with LS7 clutch (dealer fitted)
Colour: Red Hot with HSV- Track stripes and red/black leather interior
Mileage: 31,XXXkm
Condition: Immaculate
Price: $40,000 Neg.
Not really sure what the car is worth and I’m prepared to see what the market reflects, yet would like it to go to a good home sooner rather than later hence the (reasonable) negotiability in price.
Comment:
This car is a coveted example of what happens with a compulsive owner is born under the star sign of Virgo – everything is and always has been spot-on.
Despite the modifications, this car has not ever been abused; no burn outs, no track days, nothing nasty and thereby probably wasted on me as a result... To say I am fastidious about the upkeep of this car is an understatement likely to be corroborated by my very understanding bride!
Because of my OCD tendencies :) this car is very well thought through, all components are probably over-the-top in terms of specification and the workmanship by Chev’s is yet another example of what comes out of that workshop.
The car is now for sale because I am simply ‘moving on’ and looking for other challenges and outlets; I also need the space for another project – another SS albeit a 35 year old one!
The asking price is balanced because whilst it is a 2007 model SSV it has low and (mainly) highway mileage, extensive and high spec. GMH factory accessories, and the quality performance modifications have turned out a reliable, dependable and well integrated to create a smooth yet thought car as opposed to an rough and ready car that so many modified cars become.
The car is very well mannered about town, extremely rewarding to drive but also very good on fuel – I routinely get high 8 to low 9 litres per 100km on the highway to Melbourne and home, and it is better than my bride’s Territory about town! All this and it delivers 333kw/445hp to the rear wheels!

History:
• Purchased new in March 2007 with nigh-on all Holden accessory/option boxes ticked – see ‘Factory Options’.
• No encumbrance – buyer has clear title.
• One owner – the car is a long way from a daily driver in terms of my use, indeed it is rarely driven and always garaged yet would easily suit a daily driver if used this way.
• A Canberra car rarely driven save for trips to visit family in Melbourne hence the very low mileage – I’d estimate more than half the odometer’s mileage arose during our trips to Victoria.
• Complete dealership stamped servicing books having been purchased from and serviced since new by Commonwealth Motors. The car comes with not only a complete service history but also a record of every service, every part, every modification and every cent spent on it whether that be it’s extra engine oil/filter changes, modifications and even fuel useage.
• October 2009 the car was sent to Chev’s at Carrum Downs VIC with a brief to build a useable modern muscle car, the result being an really integrated and smooth package derived from a few of my own ideas combined with considerable professional advice from Gary Cheverly – see title; ‘modifications’
• The car is very well mannered and whilst the cam is a performance specification, VCM also met my brief in my wanting something that didn’t pig-root around when tootling around car parks on limited throttle but yet made a beautiful note to the idle exhaust beat – it makes great power on a very nice curve as well.
• The car is extremely reliable, having done approximately 13,000km without issue since the engine modifications in Oct 2009 and is tuned safely forgoing some horsepower for longevity and reliability. It is also ‘over-engineered’ in terms of component standards in meeting the brief of reliability in the long term – the tune and parts such as the timing chain, lifters, lifter springs and the alike are merely examples of the same.
Factory Options:
• HSVi Track stripes
• HSVi Premium steering wheel – red & black,
• HSVi Gear lever – red & black
• HSVi DVD player (roof mounted) with 2 x headsets,
• 19” SSV spare wheel and tyre – never roaded,
• GMH SS mats (front and rear),
• GMH Boot liner,
• GMH Cargo liner,
• GMH Mud flaps – sports style (front and rear),
• GMH Bonnet protector,
• GMH Insect screen
Modifications:
A summary of the performance/mechanical modifications by Chev’s includes;
• Custom MAF-less tune,
• 333rwkw (445rwhp) on Chev’s renowned ‘honest’ dyno,
• VCM Stage 6 cam (233/233 .596/.596 114 LSA),
• Schneider linked lifters - hydraulic roller,
• PAC Beehive 130lb lifter springs,
• Crane pushrods,
• ARP head bolts,
• Patriot double row timing chain,
• Powerbond 25% underdriven balancer/pulley,
• Ziggy OTR ,
• Harrop coil relocation kit,
• GM Motorsport ‘Chevrolet’ rocker covers (painted red) – no ‘turtle cover’,
• Elite E2 catch can,
• HSV W427 3.7LSD with shotpeened internals (VCM)
• DBA slotted rotors with QFM pads (f&r),
• Superpro rear void bush kit,
Other modifications by me include;
• LS7 clutch and revised GM-H clutch pedal assembly by GMH,
• X-Force stepped stainless steel extractors feeding X-Force 3” dual mild steel exhaust chosen because the mild steel has a beautiful and fuller note as opposed to the tinny sound of a full stainless system,
• Speedy Cheetah wheels in Hypersilver finish with polished rims (19x8.5 front and 19 x 9.5
staggered rears) by Bob Jane,
• Pedders SportsRyder springs (f & r) by Pedders,
• Ripshifter – VE Street Shifter model
• Solartint window tinting – Onyx 67%,
• GMH front splitter extension,
• Pontiac G8 rear diffuser,
• VCM airbox cover,
• HSV centre binnacles with JHP clour coded three window gauges,
• Bee sting aerial,
• 1250kg Hayman Reese towbar with removable tongue (blind fit)
Prospective buyers:
Please message with contact number – I am very happy to discuss in better detail.
I am also more than happy to arrange inspection including an accompanied test drive.
For ACT buyers; the good news is the car doesn’t require an inspection for rego transfer given it is less than six years old.
For interstate buyers there is not a RWC offered because ACT laws don’t require the same but again, inspections are very welcome.
All the best an cheers, TB
