Hi guys, just called an exhaust mob to get a quote for a set of hurricane headers, for my VE ss ute. He calls back and gives me the price for pacemakers. I asked "oh so don't hurricane make them for an L98 in a VE?" and he said ummmm, nah I don't think so in a VE.

I know they are available for an ls2 in a VE. Will the ls2 ones bolt onto an l98? I don't know how different they are?

Any help would be much appreciated as I wanna order a set asap

So the ls2 headers are the exact same as the l98? Not just on the manifold side, but will fit in the engine bay the same?

contact liverpoolexhaust.com.au

they sell the hurricane and their pricing is very reasonable even with freight added....

Just called them, really nice guy actually, but his price was about $100 more even without the freight cost. But yeh he confirmed that the ls2 headers will fit an l98. He said in a VE, all the L motors have the same exhaust manifold or whatever. All interchangeable basically.

Depending on how low your car is (or will be) also look at the Sureflo VE medium length headers. Not being long 4-1 they may not flow quite as well as Hurricane/Pacies/DF but they have the advantage that they leave room for a bigger 100cpsi cat with bigger flow so it all balances out. Plus they sit up high so less scraping. :goodjob:

 They look very low - I'm sure lower than my Pacies.

Now this place says they do fit and another gut said they don't. Both work at the same place! I'm just gonna go into chev's 2morro arvo and get them to do it

Not as bad as the original Di Filippo’s were. In fact I didn’t have any problems with them compared to many other vehicles I’ve owned. Tucked up nicely I thought, each to there own I suppose, I would suggest you go the shorty option if that’s the case or don't lower the car.

Yeah, must admit if I was to buy extractors and cats now I'd seriously look into the Sureflo medium length extractors with the big cats. Same sort of power output as long 4-1s with smaller cats but tuck up much higher. Andy (HEKYEH) has them on his new blown VE and seems very happy with them.

:)

I have Pacemaker headers with ceramic coat and 100 cpi cats with 3" Hurricane Cats Back. Not going into past stuff, but I do get a plethora of nice comments all over the place on its sound/note. Plus it has finally surpassed my power goal when combined with the other engine power adders on the L98.

It was only a week ago at a skidpan day where one of the organisers said to me that it was "the best sounding car on the day, it has a note rather than a bark" - Quote.

I am not saying the setup is the best there is but I have no sponsor agenda - just reporting the way it is for me.

I have ceramic coated 1 7/8 hurricanes and matching cat back. Performance and sound is fantastic. I did a lot of research and they don't hang as low as some. However i still scrape a bit and have the same view as Wonky (see above post) about the Sureflo's.

$640 online so a bit cheaper than pacies.

They also look to be a bit shorter in design than pacies. Personally i never had a prob with them scrape unlike the vt/vy design.

Those ones are a better price than I had! But they are only 2.5" outlet? I want 3"

Wonky
30-06-2011, 10:52 PM
Agree! You really should get 3" outlet. :yup:

6LSSV
30-06-2011, 11:18 PM
Yeh I'll ring them 2morro and see if they can get me 3" outlet ones. If not I'll get them from the other place which is mmm performance off eBay. But first I call chev's and speak to them

You will love them mate.... I have 1 7/8" Hurricane headers and Hi flow cats with a twin 3inch cat back, sounds insane!

6LSSV
01-07-2011, 03:50 PM
Awesome. I am also taking out the centre muffler, and having the varex rear mufflers, so I can turn to LOUD when I want to, but fly under the radar and be sensible around town. Picking that up next Saturday, so all I need is the 100cpi cats.

I would live to see that getting dyno tuned, will be mean as. Hopefully they could tune it on a Saturday?

Wonky
01-07-2011, 09:49 PM
Not sure who you intend to tune it but if you book it in with Chev he often does tuning on Saturdays. :yup:

Cool, yeh I want Chev's to do all the work, spoke briefly today with them and said I'll be coming there when I get all the stuff. Just gotta get cats from sureflo on here then a vcm otr intake and it will be ready.

I'm pretty sure you'll find Chev already has the VCM OTR and possibly even the Ballistics in stock for about what you'd pay if you get them yourself???

You’ve got me buggered.

In an earlier thread you are looking for 100cpi cats and asking if they will weld up to your existing 4 into 1 Hurricane headers and 3” exhaust, in this thread you are talking of buying the same and go on to say you’ve now ordered the headers and now you’re saying you’ll purchase it all from Chev when your tax cheque arrives. What’s the story morning glory?

Is the forum being filled by repeat threads about the same products by people with no intention of buying and wasting other members time in giving advice or have I lost the plot. Yesterday I told my wife I’m going to buy one of those new black FPV’s, this morning I told her I’ve seen more photos and now I’m over it and she said I’m losing it, is she right? Am I going around in circles or do I just think I am?

6LSSV
02-07-2011, 11:45 AM
Yeh I just think you must be losing the plot mate. My plan was to source the cats myself but then wimpy told me that chev's has them at a good price so I said ok I'll just go there then. Nothing wrong with that
