My '03 SV8 with 190,000km on the odo went in today to have the caster bushes replaced .. one was leaking (they are the originals). I didn't realise I'd agreed to fit nolathane adjustable ones, as generally I'm more fussed with ride quality than handling. I haven't got it back yet, but had I made a big mistake - i.e. will it make the ride noisy/harsh?

I fitted a set to my ute about a month ago and am happy with them. As mentioned firmer under braking but no noise / harshness.

Agreed with above. I installed some the other week. Being adjustable they can get a better wheel alignment.
They basically eliminate forward/backward movement of the front wheel under braking

Drove home (35km) late last night and seemed fine .. noticable improvement in handling (surprisingly) and braking. Only problem was the first couple of LH turns there was some weird plastic rubbing sound for a second or so .. then nothing. Didn't hear it after that.

They may have given it to much caster and when you turn the wheels it's touching the plastic inner guard when turning left, that would be my guess.

Was just on the phone with wholesalesuspension.com.au asking about suspension and the convo came around to bushes, I asked if they did Nolathane? Reply was no our product is superior.... SuperPro bushes.
Anyone used Superpro as apposed to Nolathane and are they a superior product or much of a muchness?

Except for Pedders Camber Kits in the arse end I have only used SuperPro in mine. This includes Strut Top Bushes and Bearings, Radius Rod Bushes, Diff Insert, and a couple more that I cant remember the name of. Never had any issues to date. The strut top bushes did make the ride noticeably harsher over the stock items though.

BLACK 346 (In your opinion:) Should you have put something softer in the strut top?

Yeah .. from reading previous posts I thought that might have been what happened, but I can't replicate it .. tried all kind of turns over bumps and whatnot at home (10 acre block) but can't get it to make that noise again. On Friday night I heard a single, unusual "thud" but that could have just been the roads around here; they like to recover the bitumen every year of so, leaving five inch deep holes to access points in the road, etc ..

I have repaced all my bushes with Nolathane 4 years ago and never had a problem. Great product.
Dont think there is much difference between both apart from colour and we all know red goes faster:)

Probably would have gone the Pedders heavy duty rubber ones if I had known about them at the time. I have heard they are a good compromise between reliability and comfort.

Agreed, I don't think you would go to far wrong with either product.

I just had Superpro strut tops installed and don't think they are much harsher than the Boge ones I had in before. Atleast they will last more than 10,000kms too.
In saying that i have Kings SL HD springs which are quite a harsh riding spring anyway, so probably hard to notice the difference in the strut tops

Yes the SL HD are a harsh spring, I had them in prior to my 46 SL and they certainly made the front ride harsher than the different Strut Top Bushes.

just out of interest what kind of life are people getting out of Poly caster bushes? i seem to have got 2.5yrs out of mine before getting the shuddering and squeeling brake symptoms back again.

Was that the bushes or the brakes?
My OEM rubber/fluid bushes lasted 190,000km and 8 years and weren't actually completely shagged .. and people tell me those bushes are rubbish ..
