Well my wagon has now got past its first service and I'm thinking of an aftermarket exhaust.
So, if any of you fellow SS/SSV Sportswagon owners (and forum sponsors) can throw me a bone wrt suggestions/feedback of your own systems, then I would be very gratefull. I know there are quite a few options available which can make the decision process all the more difficult.
I am open to either a 2.5 or 3 inch system, full or cat back and am also open to the idea of getting it dyno tuned.
When I got it serviced last week, the local dealer (who is now an agent for Walkinshaw Performance) quoted me a 3 inch cat back system for $2100 fitted.
Previous systems I have had include an X-force (with Pacemaker short headers) on my recently departed VE Berlina 6.0 (which I was quite happy with) and a Manta 2.5 inch cat back the previous car to that - a VYSS Crewman (which was ok but droned a bit at 110kph in sixth).
Thanks in advance for your input.

This has been discussed a hell of alot mate, try using the search function first.
Too give my opinion it would be a KPM exhaust for sure, top of the range and guaranteed not to drone (worst on sportswagons).
KPM SLC Exhausts and Packages (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=136601&highlight=slc+exhaust)
They are not cheap but the best never is!
Pro Auto in Canning vale are the local distributor for KPM.
Is your wagon auto or manual?
From everything I have read if you have a manual you have a few more options (manufacturers) to choose from, some even get away with a 3 inch system.
If its an auto fewer options. KPM sound great in my opinion. When I can afford it there's is the system I'll be going for. Guarantee no drone in their 2.5 inch system on auto AFM wagons.
I haven't heard too many other brands given where I live there aren't too many around. Try and catch up with people who have modified exhausts on wagons.
From everything I've read your better off to spend a bit more first off rather than trying to find a cheaper option then fixing it etc.
Good luck mate.

Hi Redline
I've got the Walkinshaw 3 inch system on my E2 Maloo and couldnt be happier with it. No drone issues at all and sounds great.
Cheers

KPM here, and i love it.
My brother has KPM on his sportwagon and it's a manual. Sounds great and no drone. Both systems are 2.5" and full systems.

Yes I did search first....
It is a manual.
The cost itself is not an issue, am just after the best bang for my buck and, of course, a drone free system.
Thanks for the replies thus far.

I have a walky 2.5 catback. Sounds great and couldnt be happier with the sound although it does drone at 115-120 under load. Im hoping the headers and cats i've got sitting here will help this.

If money is not an issue then it would be hard to go past KPM.
Bloody expensive but bloody good from everything I have heard from those who have had them installed.
They sound very nice.

The wagons are a totally different kettle of fish - much more prone to drone.
To the OP - exhaust sound is fairly subjective so the best thing to do is go for a ride in as many Sportwagons with different systems as you can to see what sounds good to you, what drones and what doesn't.
Cams/extractors/cats all change the sound so it is pointless going in a cammed wagon if you never intend doing a cam, similarly if you are only doing a catback it's relatively pointless going in a car with extractors or high flow cats. Not only can they change the sound but they can change drone characteristics.

True, the KPM stuff sounds great - almost as good as my D/F pipes...:hide:
