View Full Version : VW Golf guidance
Hey there fellas, I have a friend that has asked me to help her with buying a new car. Now I know that usual things that I need to look out for (noises, log books, wear and tear) But is there anything specific I need to look out for in a 2005 onwards Golf (auto)?

Bestie chick friend has a 2006 Golf base model auto.
Can't add much other than it's needed brakes, but nothing major has gone wrong. Being a base model it has just the basic 1.6, not the more technical FSI engine.

go on over to vwwatercooled.org.au and do some searches. The boxes are a little prone to issues but there is some good information there. I have a 2011 GTI DSG and the box is fantastic. That being said I do not think I would own one out of warranty.

Hi,
My wife and I are selling her 2005 golf, comfortline, 2.0L fsi. 6 speed auto. Silver. Full service history.
I run the workshop side of things at an independent workshop that specializes in European cars so it has alway's had whatever work is necessary.
Send me a pm if your interested.

Is it an auto auto or a DSG? I'd be inclined to stay away from an early DSG box - I wouldn't want to be paying the bill when it goes kerbang.
