hey,
what are other people useing to tow their cars to events?
i want to get setup with a tow car i can use as a daily and still do the long trips to events with ease.
have done abit of research and found some good reports on 80 serries landcruise 96 models onwards as these are rated to 3500kg braked towing.
would rather a 4x4... im not sure if theres a rule that the towing car has to be bigger then the car being towed?

I have used a 4x2 turbo diesel BT50 to tow my VT two and from the Perth Motorplex. Did it with ease, would have one again. !
We also use a 2003 patrol 3litre wagon, does a great job too, bit soft in the rear compared to the bt50.
Im going to give a EB Falcon :hide: a go next season, has 2000kg towing capacity, Soft in the rear, but its a cheap car, so take it easy. My towing duties are only about 30 minutes each way.
I wouldn't of sold the BT50, if i didn't need the coin.

Just in relation to the 80 series, it from August 1996 onwards the 3.5t towing rating came in. There were no real changes made just an upgraded towing capacity.
I'm looking at 75 series cruisers as I want a ute and its the same with their towing capacity. Definately get diesel if you get one

N.S.W. R.T.A. laws state the towing car needs to be heavier then what you are towing.
A lot of car hire trailer places won't even hire a trailer undess you have a 4x4. Their insurance won't cover it.

EDIT - Scratch that, just re-read and saw you need it as a daily.
Just thinking out of left field...
Have you considered an actual tow truck like this (http://trucksales.com.au/buy/details.aspx?R=10902872&keywords=tow&__Ntk=StockAll&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode%20matchany&PriceTo=1873&__D=tow&silo=1701&seot=1&__sid=131425608D86&__N=1550%201552%201715%201600%201601%201602%201873&__Ns=p_StockRankSort_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_Make_String% 7c0%7c%7cp_Model_String%7c0%7c%7cp_Year_Int32%7c1% 7c%7cp_StockPrice_Decimal%7c1&__Qpb=1&__Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Cr=9&__Ntt=tow&trecs=200)?

Hey Kingy,
Been meaning to catch up with you, we have plenty of good deals atm here in town. For example there is a late model nissan patrol up the road for a damn good price, owner is broke and has to leave town. Will call you this weekend and let you know who to see here in the Isa.

I agree , The Nissan Navara would be best for a heavy load , My Uncle is getting one for towing for up to 3 hours each way to get to the track...

really!
I thought it was manufacturers specification for weight and rta has clear policies on brake requirements. ie some 4x4's towing 3500kg despite weighing 2200 themselves

Nothing wrong with an e series (the other kind, that is)
