Hi all,
As the title states, I am looking for 2" headers for my VE, I have a set of difilippo 1 7/8", but need to go 2" due to the 454, we think it is holding it back a little.
Does anyone know where I can get a set from? I have emailed Difilippo, but am yet to hear back from them, but have heard they do not make them for the VE. So if they don't, who would? or who would make a set of custom ones for me, ceramic coated?
Cheers

Thanks guys, I have emailed chevs to see what they can do,
I have also contacted GM motorsport too about the headers on their site, to see if they are for a VE or VZ, even though it says VE, I am not holding my breath.

See the bottom 2 pics on http://www.chevsautorepairs.com.au/street-cdore-article for pictures of Chev's custom made headers for his blown/cammed LS3 in VY Clubby. Click on each to enlarge.
If no response to email by Chev within a day or two it's best to ring as he is so busy he struggles to find time and energy to respond to emails, especially if Big Rob is still on leave as he was last week. (03) 9776 8833.

They're a different looking headers that is for sure, if I don't hear from him by Friday, I will give him a call and see what the price would be. I would then have to get my difilippo exhaust modified to suit the headers, but so be it.
Chev would be able to get them ceramic coated for me too wouldn't he?

Save your money Daz, 1.7/8 is adequate for what your doing, if anything modify what you have and step them to 2 inch.

That is an option I guess, it would mean pretty extensive mods to the headers, plus there would be a lot of time off the ute, especially for ceramic coating. That is why I would just prefer a new set then on sell these, as they've only been on the ute for just over a month and done maybe 2000km. So practically new.

Heard back from GM Motorsport, and they have them in stock, so that looks like where I will be going to get them.
I haven't heard from Difilippo themselves, just waiting on how long to ceramic coat them, then the order to them will go in.
Thanks for all your help, it has been appreciated, the old headers wll come up for sale very soon now.

FYI I recall a HTV2300 blown 427 build on here some time ago that swapped headers from 1 7/8 to 2" and gained nothing...

I have decided after emailing Difilippo, and getting a response from them, I am going to keep my 1 7/8" headers and just get them ceramic coated to reduce the heat and help flow, GM Motorsport say they have them, but difilippo say they are not making them.

Jake,
I have looked on your site, and it says VT - VE in the drop down list, but after emails to and from difilippo, they say they are not making them. All good though, with ceramic coating they will reduce heat and help the flow. So i'll go that way first and see what happens first before I go chasing an custom 2" ones.

Jake,
Went back onto your Online store, and all the headers are now only for VT-VZ, so nothing for the VE now?
I got a price from DF for 2" headers, and had to pick myself up off the floor, doesn't anyone make these for the VE? and if not why? they make them for the VZ, is it due to not enough room in the engine bay or something?

Jake,
I went looking as if I can't get 2" then I will stay with the 1 7/8" but ceramic coated, as mine are just stainless, and producing a lot of heat, when I looked at them, it never came up with VE. So maybe you need to get that bigger stick out, ha ha.
Just getting things in preperation for the changes that need to be made, do you do Engine oil coolers too, full bolt up kits?
I'll send you a PM with the stuff I am looking for, and see what you can do.
Cheers

Well got 2" headers made for my ute, price was very reasonable too, and they've done a great job of them, ceramic coated and delivered to me, they look great, fit great, they've done a great job getting them to fit in and not hit any of the body.
These were made by APC in Perth, Jim and the boys have done a great job.

looks good, but i think they stuffed up the passanger side header. it has the 02 sensor hole on the wrong side.
edit. on closer inspection they have a hole on both sides.. wtf?

Looks like they might have put another bung in for afr readings, but hard to tell

The inside holes are for the factory O2 sensors, the additional Bung is for the EFILive AFR O2 sensor, so it is there for a reason, if you don't need it, they wont put it in, it was a special request from me for it to be included.
They fit nicely for such big headers, I will try and get some pics done when it is on the hoist next.

i've looked at them in the latest Perth Street Car, they definetly look good.
where abouts does your wideband sensor come out, to me it looks like it would be very close the body rails.

They do look quite good, and they fit quite well, there does not seem to be an issue at the moment with anything, and I do not see any issues that could arise either.
The Wideband O2 sensor does sit close to the body, but there is no issues with it hitting at all, when you look at it, there is plenty of space.

I will get some photo's for you all, but there is plenty of space, as I have not hit it, and I have given it plenty and there would've been engine twist under load.

It goes back to the mechanics for the oil cooler, suspension and the final tuning combined live with Steve from Oztrack, and I wil get them to take some photo's of the sensor position, but if you're not running EFILive, or an additional AFR, then there is no need to have this additional sensor. So if you have NO intention on running an additional O2 sensor for AFR readings then you don't need to worry about the sensor position.
