I am looking at buying a car from queensland, im trying to find out which vehicle history check site to use.

I think i need to either use REVS or Vcheck but im not sure what one

I want to know written off status, finance status and number of previous owners / current owner

Can anyone from queensland help me out?

I used vcheck for my purchase and it was very good - cost around $50 or so and i received a comprehensive report.

It always pay to find out everything you can from the seller, including asking where the car had been serviced and getting those records, etc to ensure your trip north is not going to be for nought.

cheers

Vcheck, I think it gives you more info than REVS. From memory, part of the Vcheck is a REV report.

As for service history, I think only the current owner can request the info, even then it will only be while they've owned it.

A V-check will give you registered write off info, (if any) financial interests (if any) and when and where any registration detail changes have happened, ie transfers. The rego detail changes also note the ODO reading at the time.

The V-check will only give you information while the car has been registered in Queensland so If the car was originally registered in NSW you will not get any of these details.

depends what you are checking for. revs - financial interests. v-check written off vehicle. you can pay for a service i believe its in revs that will do both. but its like $50 or 60..

Not to hijack or dig up the thread but I noticed the Vcheck now does not include any encumbrance info. If I order a VCheck today how long does it take to receive the report etc?

I think the Aust Govt is now setting up a National Data Base for securities checks, writen off status etc. The Vicroads site now redirects you to this site:

there was a check done on -carhistory.com.au- yesterday about a car at Cabramatta and it was very comprehensive and showed the car had been written off in Qld and Vic.The question was asked in a thread about Best Buy Auto's (GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE)
I went and looked at the car for timbo888 and thought it looked o.k.,I would have been happy to buy what I saw but because he is not local I gave him the car history site and he rang the dealer and got the VIN and paid for the online check
I spose if someone was really serious you could get 2 checks done just 2 be sure-a lot of money is being spent on a car so $50 is nothing (2 checks)

I not from Qld (was b4) but would think that you wont get names of previous owners due to privacy laws. But the log books will show if there is a big distance in servicing w/shops which you could ask the seller about,it may indicate multiple owners
Also check the rear of the log book and see if any change of owner's pages are missing.I filled out mine and sent it off when I bought the car

The car history is all you are buying so that can't change I wouldn't think, there was a post about a big dealer yard cancelling the 6 months rego left on a purchase so transferring the rego asap could be a good idea. The buyer was pulled over 4 weeks after the buy for driving an unregistered car

Only really concerned of an encumbrance.

Correct Ppsr (personal property security register) is now a national register, a check on a site like carhistory.com.au will cover all states. It has replaced revs, technically a check is only valid for that day... but you would be very unlucky for an encumbrance to be listed after the check an before taking delivery.
