Guys

I have been speaking to a guy in the states who makes 'A' pillar trim panels with gauge holders. They are currently only in LHD but he said if I could organise enough interest then he would do some in RHD

Basically, we need to achieve at least 10 people with interest and paid their money to proceed. I propose that we get all items shipped to me in Brisbane and then I will ship from there. I suspect that interstate shipping would probably cost about $15-$20 but I will work all that out.

He has told me that a shipped price is going to be roughly USD$350 and considering what JHP and SS Inductions charge for their dash pods I think this is pretty good value.

Here are some pics. These are the LHD ones abviously but the RHD ones will be exactly the same.

I'd be keen if they came with guages? Is it the 3pod or 2pod that you're quoted on? Or either?

What colour do they come in?

The price covers the trim only. I suspect it's for either 2 or 3

We could supply gauges as well but the cost will then include gauges. So using my Aeroforce gauges as a guide, the trim and gauges would cost $750.

Trim colour matches the standard trim from what I understand

This is correct.

Isn't there an airbag in there ? how does that work with gauges attached there ?

My years with wrx/sti, I was advised and have heard on numerous occassions, that these pillar setups are illegal in NSW. Allegedly you could hit your head on them in an accident. Yeah right! Nonetheless, that was (still may be) info I heard.

Yeah, not interested in spending that much atm, plus i cbf getting seperate guages, that might or might not fit, etc ,etc, just want a whole package, either way too much.

Plus what you said, there is an airbag there, so if it went off, do the guages come smashing into your face??

It functions same as stock. It mounts to all the stock mounting points and is still tethered to the frame of the car in the event of a side airbag deployment.

I like how the gauges in the first thread tie in with the STD lighting.

Just a quick question though, how is visibility looking out the corner at roundabouts and the other blind corners we suffer from at almost every corner?

The VE has a chunky A pillar already

I'm not knocking the product I think it looks great and OEM fit and finish.

i would much prefer the 2 guage one in the center speaker. the SS inductions one is crap. it just sits in there, it doesnt clip.

and while the 5 display one is good, it requires extra $$$ to replace half the f'n dash.

If I ever need I will go the same in the centre :):) looks to busy for my liking :(

But it is a great job of what you have done :)

If i had a VE i'd be in, looks like a nice piece & at $35 odd is well worth it.

Visibilty is actually not that bad. The first versions I made of these were not great for visibility but as improvements to each one have been made the placement has gotten better and the look as improved.

Obviously, this won't appeal to everyone but it is another mounting option as there does not seem to be many. If these were mass produced, the cost would be cheaper but since they are hand made its tough to come much lower.

Pros: Easy to install
Accepts any gauge you want in 52mm or 2 1/16"
lightweight
comes in 2 or 3 pods
puts gauges in your direct view

The gauges I have in mine are the factory HSV Can Bus gauges. I had to modify the harness(obviously) to put them there instead of the HSV triple dash.

Also working on this:

Easily converted to RHD...

I believe VCM now have the entire SS 5-Gauge kit for $400 (+ gauges) (http://www.vcmstore.com.au/epages/shop.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/vcmperformance/Categories/Holden/Performance_Defined).
