G'day all. A search for 'ls1 lifter' turned up heaps of misc info, but nothing definite.

I'm replacing my lifters, and I need to know exactly what to buy. A mate of mine is going to replace them for me.

I gather LS7 lifters are a better choice, but what else do I have to purchase to do it all in one swoop. I'm going to leave the cam standard.

Thanks

standard aftermarket replacement like sealedpower/federal mogul would do fine and are under 300 a set

A LOT of work not to have the heads milled just a tad for some nice compression improvements...

LS7 lifters would be fine, or the other brands mentioned. Would definitely change the springs to a nice beehive at the same time though.

cheers

any reason you don't want to change the cam whilst you are there? Are you lifters noisey if so what noise? loud tappy noise or a squeal?

I don't want to change the cam as I'm quite happy with the performance and fuel efficiency.

So far I've gotta get 16 lifters, and beehive springs?

Sorry to hijack, was going to ask a similar question for the L98 ... I'm about to do a cam swap along with pushrods, springs etc and want to do lifters while its all apart ... Are the recommendations for the L98 the same? Where do I get them from in Brissy?

I would recommend due to the size of the job getting a well know brand of lifter Morel, Isky etc. I know a lot of people like and use the LS7 lifter I am just not convinced that they will be that much of an improvement over factory,

Most performance shops will recommend LS7 lifters for L98's and L76's unless ur going to a non oem style.

if using LS7 lifters you will need pushrods as well as the LS7's are slightly longer
as well as head gaskets, head bolts, mill the heads

I run Morel tiebar lifters in mine, as Peter said go with well known brands & you'll be fine.
