Is anyone running these? Thinking about giving them a try, any experiences or opinions appreciated :)
They seem pretty good value for the money.

been looking at them myself. keen to know what people think of them
Whilst not the set you are looking at, I got the Harrop monster package not long ago with some perfomance (i.e. softer) pads. No noise and pull you up a treat, thus I expect you would get good results too from rest of the range from Harrop. Very happy with the Harrops.
Be warned, hitting the brakes hard at speed can lead to you brain wanting to escape through to the front of your head....

I think they'd work reasonably well - larger discs equals a greater heatsink.

My brother had the std plus setup in a WH. Definitely an upgrade in performance, but not a huge difference. More of an aesthetic mod IMHO!

Mid range when you look at the various numbers quoted on the net.

I used them on the VX.. no probs with track days and DS2500 pads and AP600 fluid.. and I'm the last of the late brakers. They look pretty amazing glowing red :yup:
As with anything larger in diameter, more leverage, work better. The improvement over stock its about 1 million fold.

I have had standard plus in my car for the last 12 months with ebc green stuff pads.
I think they work great, I am also a late braker at track days and managed to get 9th /100 in a recent timed day with stock tyres.
If it is as far as your budget can stretch they are good!

Since the standard plus discs are designed to work with your standard factory calipers, can they be easily upgraded with larger better Harrop, HSV, PBR, etc calipers at a later date?

I would imagine so, the kit comes with brackets to adapt the standard calipers to the disc I believe. Maybe someone can confirm this?
Thanks for all the replies people :)

What pads should I go for street use? Am looking at EBC Greenstuff,
can get Front and rear for about $280, is this a good price?
Have Ferodo at the moment with DBA Slotted and they stop ok, but seem to squeal a bit.

There are pads that are equal to greens and cheaper I dont sell alot of greens because of this go to reds or yellows and feel the difference will make a huge diff with the kit

Ok, thanks. Harrop have recommended using Bendix Ultimates. So you reckon go the EBC Red Stuff?

I cant remember Paul, was nearly 6 years ago. They were not cheap at the time though, I remember that. Have only really started squealing lately, so might be nearly shagged I reckon.

I had the DS2500's with this particular brake package for road use and 3000's.
Comp Friction in the ACT can either cut the pads down for you from something else or use a full C5 sized pad from memory.

So what other pads are good for mainly street use? There was mention of "better and cheaper" pads then the EBC Greens but no mention of what they were and if they were a direct fit.
I might purchase this Harrop standard plus kit for my VX if i can't find any HSV or Harrop 4 spotters on the cheap.

These are the ones hey?
So you rate them over the EBC greens? I was looking at the DS2500's aswell but my car is more street oriented then spirited driving oriented and the ds's seem more made for a bit of track work

Have had these on for about 3 weeks now, with EBC Greenstuff pads. Took the car for it's first real spirited drive today up through Chain of Ponds to Birdwood. Now the brakes work great, very happy with them.
The only thing that is worrying me is when I had a look at the front rotors they have a brown ring on the surface that is about the equivalent to half the pad width. This brown streak which looks like rust runs evenly around the rotor face under where the pad contact the rotor. Anyone know what this might be? It wont rub off, I tried. Only thing I can think of is the brake anti squeal we had to spray on them when they were bedding in, as they squeal was pretty bad. Any ideas people?
Cheers

Probably heat spotting/markings from the spirited drive ie metal changes a slightly different colour when heated and cooled

Cheers mate, if that is all it is then I am not worried. At least they have stopped squealing, that was driving me crazy.
