Hey guys,
Leaving for europe soon. Monaro will be sitting in the garage for just over a month.
Should i disconnect the battery before i go? Or just get my dad to start it up once a week?
Also, bc it wont be driven for a period of time, should i change the oil when im back?
any recommendations would be appreciated

Mine hasn't moved from the shed for about 3!
I have a Projecta charge 'n' maintain charger.. saves disconnecting the battery (good for an occasional driver car too). about $40.
Perhaps lift it up so the tyres don't flat spot...

If you're going to be traveling oversea's often and storing the car regularly for extended periods then the item mickey suggested would be the go.
If this is rare that it will be stored and unused then I would just disconnect the battery.
Also +1 on the lifting it off it's wheel to prevent flat spots. That or you can just get your hands on 4 stockies and pop them on for the time it's in storage.
Wouldn't worry about changing the oil when you get back, it's only a month. It's better to change theoil just BEFORE putting it in storage so the crap in the dirty oil doesn't settle.

It's not a really long time away IMHO - and no real cause to carry out much (particularly as it's in the garage anyway), but maybe ;
- Pump up the tyres to around 40/42 psi (assuming you're still running 18's). Any tyre flat spots that may form will dissappear within 5ks of driving.
- Try to run the fuel tank down to around the last quarter (so you can fill up with fresh fuel when you get back). Condensation in the tank won't be an issue - given it's under cover & not subject to wildly fluctuating temps.
- Don't bother disconnecting battery. Just whack it on a charger for a few hours when you get back. I'd be surprised if this is actually needed though.
- Give it a wash/clean before you go & cover it to prevent dust build up.

My car was in storage for almost 4 months on my last trip, dumped the oil, pumped the tyres to 44psi, left about an 1/8 of a tank in fuel and removed the battery.
When I got back, refilled with oil, petrol, recharged battery, put it all together and it cranked 1st go, the LS is just about bulletproof.

Simple, I will take it for a drive for you every couple of days while you are away.

Take the keys out of it when you go, thats about all you will need to do.
I'm sure some people invent things that "might" be a problem if left for to long but mine has sat in the shed for up to 6 weeks and never had tyre flat spots, problems with the battery, oil worries or anything else.

Thanks guys. Prob just pump tyres and leave it.
1 month is nothing, I'd just leave it be, maybe hook a trickle charger up to it to keep the battery topped up then drive it when you return, having your Dad start it is doing more harm than good as it'll never get off cold start enrichment and never get hot enough to burn off the condensation in the exhaust.

the only ting i would do is. lock up the keys some where. like a safety deposit box or safe.
last thing you want is some one "borrowing" your car while your away.

As said above i would be locking the keys up some where, Especially now that the whole world knows your going away for a period of time.
