Folks, my E3 GTS is 6 weeks old and stock for a few more kms before I go with the VCM OTR and tune. The car is great but not sure whether the cars bonnet is too tight to be normal or not. When I close the bonnet I have to apply more than just a soft push to get it closed. The reason for the question and slight concern is that I'm not sure if this is normal for an E3 GTS or not and whether it will be an issue when I get the VCM OTR installed.

Check the height of the bonnet to the guards, if this is level then the bonnet is in the correct position. Also, you're much better off dropping the bonnet to close it, applying even light pressure to modern cars will eventualy leave an imprint in the tin foil.

To avoid the possibility of denting the bonnet - you should just allow the bonnet to drop/close once you've got it to within approx 6-8 inches of latching.

Forgot to mention that dropping it will not close it. Agree the drop is best but it is tight.

Check the adjustable rubber stops on the under side of the bonnet. Try winding them in a little each time until it closes better. Just keep an eye on the bonnet to guard levels, although I have never had an issue when adjusting, as there are fixed stops as well.

I had a paintless dent guy up to fix a small dent and he (or someone else there) noticed and fixed three very slight dents in the tinfoil/bonnet :D from people closing it. The panels are very thin nowadays. I know Chev and the guys there always drop the bonnet from about 8 - 10" to shut it. :)

Hey crackelaktor,
Don't stuff around with it..... just take it back to your dealer to fix...... it's under warranty!

Cheers

A small spray of WD40 in the bonnet latch fixed this issue. I can now drop it closed with no issue.
