Hi I am wondering who preferably in qld has there car under club rego? How you went about it and what's required. What it costs and when it allows you to drive your car and how far ect?

All information is not useless.

What I hope I can do is drive it to local events and workshops ect.

Thanks brad

I'll dig up the info I have about our Valiant. We are members of the Chrysler Club.

We are yet to register (or actually restore) but some of the terms were similar to:
1. 90 days use a year (log booked)
2. Unlimited use within 1km (I think) of home

There were some more, but I am sure that they are on the website of your relevant transport authority as all car clubs in QLD would access registration through the same protocol / guidelines.

Car needs to be over 25 years old as well to pass for club rego. I investigated it for the clubby cause it gets little to no use but unfortunately on qualifys for full rego.

Ye that sux, i only do about 5000km a year in my VE but still have to pay full rego & insurance. There should be a minimal use type rego & insurance for any vehicle that sees little use.

Exactly. I Have 5 Reg'd cars and only about 3 are regulary driven. The other 2, a VK Berlina and a VL would be flat out doing a couple of hundred Km a year. Its rediculous that you have to pay the full rego amount for cars that only get used rarely.

A limited use registration would be excellent - But the QLD govt would not let it happen. :vpo:

At my work, a few of the utes have a different type of rego sticker that says "Concession for restricted use" Whats the go with that?

Normal for council/government vehicles.....

She used to be a daily but then I started working out west and the car wasn't suitable for the type of roads here. Over $2300 a year for the privelidge to keep a car in my garage with little to no use is making it difficult to justify hence why mine is going up for sale once the new clutch goes in. It's a shame I really like the car but there's not much point in keeping it anymore.
Looking at getting a bike instead now. Cheaper to keep and probably a bit more fun.

In Victoria

You also need to belong to a club that offers the club registration scheme

The registration is only valid while you are a financial member of that club

Have not heard of the 1 km restriction mentioned earlier.

My Rambler is on the scheme am loving it :)

O/T but which club are you rego'd with? It would be nice to get my AMC Javelins on club rego .. but one has original plates (the RHD one) and the LHD one has personalised plates ..

Got three Jap bikes on historic rego though! :) (thru VJMC)

Rambler Car Club of Australia I am the Publicity Officer of the club I guess this is publicity :)

Membership is $35.00 per year
To get a car on club plates the club requires a roadie
You have to put red plates on the car which sounds like a deal breaker but you would save over a grand a year I think

I know it is Victorian, bu I have my car Club Rego'd through Benalla Auto Club, the owners of Winton Raceway and Wakefield Park Raceway

$120 per year membership, you do not have attend any meetings, AGM's, club events, wrking bee's, etc.

Your membership gets you free access to all Winton run events at Winton includung the V8 Supercars.

They require a road-worthy for the first year and then a cursory glance for subsequent years. The only hiccup is that you have to take you car to Benalla/Winton.

Never heard of the 1 kilometre thing, I am confident it doesn't exist.

The 90 day allowance and 1km radius is what the Australian Street Rod Federation have for hot rods so that is probably where there could be some confusion in Qld.
