So it appears nobody was really keen on pillar gauge holders. That's cool.

How about one of these instead

That looks pretty good, I think I seen a guy over on the G8 forums Whois making and selling these, although obviously facing the LHS..

I would have went this way although I just finished my install tonight of the HSV triple gauge, my car is a late 2007 SS MY08 and all gauges work and lighting so I'm pretty happy

I still reckon the HSV gauges like Neisha's are the pick of the lot though depending on price and other factors may go with these. Are they a direct replacement for the SS/SSV bonners or like the HSV ones do they require about $300 of accompanying part mods to make them fit?

Question for a friend....will they fit VE Calais?

Mick

Nope...
These look like omega/ss/ss-v... notice the panel goes all the way to the trans tunnel plastics.

Calais/Berlina/HSV is different. These binnacle panels end under the aircon vents.

Both can be made to fit other models but require lots of additional plastics... lots of extra $$$

Will fit all VE's up to Series 2 with the following issues:
VE SSV - no problems
VE SS - I believe you may need to relocate the small digital display you have as it shows your radio and a/c info
VE Calais and Berlina - These should fit, however you will need to change the Air vent ducting to SS models, as the air vents on the Berlina and Calais sits higher. (Only $30 from Holden)
Also the trim around the centre console needs to be replaced too for Calais/ Berlina Models. (Not sure exactly what parts, but I can find out)....
If you have the cream interior, then you will not be able to get the parts in this colour as SV6 / SS/ SS-V did not come with cream interiors.
VE Series 1 and E2 HSV - you too could upgrade or change to this if so inclined. You would need to change the trim as per Calais. You would end up with plain black interior trim though instead of the rado silver

First trim arrived in my hot little hands yesterday.

All I can say is ...... WOW!!!!!!

Its intent to look straight from factory is well and truly surpassed. I can't wait to get this in the car with gauges running. Waiting on my third Aeroforce.

If you are interested PM me. Be aware that as they are custom made there is a lead time from payment to delivery.

That looks great. How do you like the aeroforce gauges? Are they hard to setup?

bonners
27-11-2011, 07:14 AM
the gauges themselves are great. Setup is easy as it simply plugs into OBD11. The only downside with having three gauges is that there for them to work there ends up being 3 massive obi port connectors. The only way we could connect it all without it looking silly under the dash was to unscrew the actual obi port, connect it all up and then hide it behind the trim. Easy.

A bit better write up of the install

I finally installed my trim and three gauges on Friday night. The final result is simply outstanding. The trim really does look like its from factory and the gauges work a treat. The only problem we found with three gauges was that there ends up being three massive obi connectors which you need to hide. We achieved this by removing the obd connector from the trim, connecting all gauges up and then hiding the whole lot behind the trim

When you receive the trim, you receive a very detailed 'instruction' booklet which is essentially made up of exerts from the service manual. There was only one thing extra we did which was to remove the piece of trim right at the base of the centre trim.

So, the pics

Just a note: When we had it all installed and i had plugged in the stereo unit again, it came up with something about mismatched data and the stereo would not do anything. Also, the interior lights seemed to be reversed (i.e. came on when doors were closed....). We somehow fixed this by simply closing all doors, locking the car with the key, unlocking it and doing this a couple of times. Simply fixed it. I'm sure there is a reason it did this and can probably be better explained but thats how we did it.

Hey Bonners.

Looks good mate! I just installed some stereo bits and pieces and had the battery disconnected. I can across the same "mismatch" issue when i was done and went and turned the radio on. After a brief WTF moment, i turned the radio off, started the car, turned the radio back on again and it was all good. I'm assuming you had the battery disconnected too? I was thinking the car maybe needed that initial start up to register everything is where it should be again?

Keep up the good work mate!

Cheers
Chris

$425 for the centre trim only?

bonners
14-12-2011, 09:48 PM
Plus shipping. It's basically $500.

As I've said before, considering the small JHP pod is nearly $300 and this is a custom piece of complete trim I still think its good value.

Do you think they might start developing gauge holders for the series2?

bonners
15-12-2011, 07:36 AM
I'd have to say I doubt it mate. Sorry.

These are custom made and were developed for a G8. After some constant pestering, Nate agreed to do the RHD and I've now got him busy on that

The other issue is parts etc. The series 2 is obviously not sold in the US. This means his access to parts would be non existant - or he would have to order specifically from Aus which would jack the price right up I suspect.

Another problem is the trim itself.
This is mine:

This is Series 2
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s212/ZC_74/Centre%20trim%20install/Holden-Commodore-VE-Series-2-SS-V-625x416.jpg

Where do you put the gauges? I dont know. If someone was prepared to buy a centre trim for him to work with perhaps he could come up with something but I see it as unlikely at this point.

For the reasons bonners gave I'd very much doubt it. I was lucky enough to pick up a full E3 HSV gauge set on eBay from which I took the gauges and put them in an E1 pod I bought from a forum member.

I then sold the complete E3 fascia (inc. vents + round to rectangular vents converter) to a fellow forum member with an E2 SS/SSV (too cheap :D). http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274/gcovo/Misc/HSV_gauges.jpg

I reckon that's your best bet for an E2 Commodore.

So here are the first two 'customers' to have installed their centre trim and gauges.

One with analouge gauges and one with aeroforce like mine.
