i have alsway wondered how they went from 225kw in the vx ss the 255kw in the clubsport? i know the diff ratio is higher and the exhaust is different!

Diff ratio wont effect power output.
IIRC they had slightly different exhaust system, airbox and tune. 30kw is measured at the flywheel, so its not "that" much more power. Apart from that the engines were pretty much standard.

All in the tune pal with slighty better mods

Are you just trying to get some more HP from your car, or is this specific to the VX Clubsport.
I ask, because with todays exhaust/OTRCAI/tuners you can get a heck of a lot more than 255kw from your LS1.

^^^ This. Different headers, cats, 2.25" exhaust (think standard is a 2"), air intake and tune.

Basically, no. There are a LOT of after market exhaust systems around for very little money that will give MUCH better results.
Have a bit of a search in the technical area and look at some of the mods. Generally speaking, an exhaust OTR (Over the radiator cold air intake) and tune will set you back $1000-1500-2000 depending and raise the flywheel power from 225kw (or 250kw in a clubsport) to around 300-320kw (flywheel). It will also improve economy and the sound.

Is that realistic a price? I've been debating finally getting a few more ponies from my stock SV8 instead of trading up .. Looking for a one stop shop in Vic for exhaust, OTR and tune.

Um, If you go to one shop and get all new parts the price might be a little higher... Say $3000 or so.
Horsepower Factory in Dandenong have a package for $3200 for 300kw. They do good work.
If you source second hand parts (which are very common on these forums) you should be able to get an exhaust system for $600ish, an OTR for $300 and then get a mail order MAFless tune from OZtrack tuning....
http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=150506
So around $2000 should be making 300kw+ (Again flywheel kw).
So yeah, just take this a guide on whats possible for what money.
As i said earlier, search the forums as theres HEAPS of information on these forums.

Problem prices vary so much from shop to shop. Are you paying for the service/expertise or a superior/inferior product

I'm not saying I have the BEST
I have a budget to stick to
XForce 4-1 extractors + metal cats + exhaust ($1750 fitted)
DuSpeed OTRCAI + Oztrack mailorder mafless tune ($1050)
4.11 LSD diff ($850+90 post)
Made a huge difference to my car.
I would *guess* at >300kw+ (real numbers not just some random dyno sh!t with the operator shoving the IAT probe up his arse) with gears a good run 0-100km
My site is home.exetel.com.au/qldkev it shows some stats for performance. I love the difference
