View Full Version : Has anyone changed their exhaust on an E3 GTS and kept the factory Bi-modal on?

Would be interested in hearing from anyone that has done this and what result they got? My dilemma is that my E3 GTS is my wife's daily driver as I bus it into work, and she wants it quiet when she is driving, I want the opposite. I'm trying to think of a hybrid system that gives the best of both worlds.

What I mean is kept the factory Bimodal mufflers on and changed the rest of the system.

Walkinshaw make a 3 inch bi-modal system and in the e3 you can control the valves through the touch screen panel

Great sounding system, reasonably priced, and factory bi-modal EDI control can be retained.

My E3 GTS will be 4 years old in July 2015. Just got my exhaust replaced with one of Lambros HiTech full stainless cat back systems today. Lambros has done all my cars over the past 16 years and I've always loved his service and products.

He replaced the system from the cats back and put some nice straight through mufflers and kept the factory BiModal system in place. Car sounds great and I still keep the wife happy with a quieter ride.

Most Sydney siders know HiTech Exhausts as they've been around for over 30 years. Just plugging their product and service for anyone who is keen to get a little more V8 sound out of their HSVs and retain the BiModal system.

Cheers Paul

Wow, 3.5 years later...

Well done mate, sometimes it takes a bit of time to do your homework to get the right result.

Sounds good but I assume that's all with the bimodals open. You really need one with them shut too to illustrate the difference.

Sure is open. The difference between open and closed is very noticeable when crusing on a freeway. Not sure how well you will pickup the difference in a stand still video with just revving the car. Will be quiter but only because one half is sealed. Less drone when crusing.
