Hey guys, I started pulling the heads off my VZ Monaro (LS1) last night and came to a halt when I got to removing the power steering pump. Everything else is all sweet and Drivers side is off but just need to find any tips to getting the Power Steering pump off. It the "How To" i got, I think from LS1tech.com, it says to take complete unit off head as a complete unit. I cant seem to get a spanner onto the bolts that holds the assembly on the block. There is just no room to get it on. So can someone please help me out with this and let me know how to get this pump off. Thanks

use a ratchet with a short extension and a socket. The pulley itself has elongated holes big enough to get the socket through. Make sure you have got the belt off first though.

Just saw it is a VZ I think there was a change in the pump assembly from what I remember now. Does it have the high pressure pipe doing like a U turn up the top and going into the pump at the top of the pump?
If this is the case the easiest option is to unbolt the whole bracket from memory. Hope this helps sorry I may have given you a bum steer to begin with. VT-VY could get to the bolts easier then they made a change in the VZ from memory.

Yeah a little bit different which is why I was puzzled. Can do it the same way though. Took me about 5 min. Undid the 2 x 13mm bolts putting the socket through pulley holes. and then took the plate off behind that. I was trying to get the rear plate off the first time and the rest of the pump assembly is in the way. Anyway thanks for your help was easy as :)
