Hey guys, First post here, been looking for info everywhere and it has led me to here. This site has a very broad range of users and i value different opinions. Have ordered a new Sv6 Sportwagon and am awaiting delivery. Dealer has talked me into paint and leather protection. 2 grand worth. Just want peoples opinions on dealer paint protection and the like. Am i being taken for a ride here or is it really worth it. They offer lifetime guarantee on the paint and leather if i go their option, For eg. bird ppos on car and i wash it off and it leaves even the slightest mark they say they will fix it for free. But i have my reservations on what they would believe to be marked. Just after opinions from anyone who has it or what else is on offer and the sort of money i'd be looking at. By the way the car will be Nitrate silver with razor leather whatever colour that is. CHeers look forward to your replies.:burnout:

$2K?!!!!......MASSIVE rip off.
Bird Poo?.....I have NEVER seen a product that would protect paint 100% from bird poo, if it's been on the paint for a period of time....and on a hot day.....a VERY short space of time.
I suggest you get your money back....and keep your car nicely waxed.
Cheers, Pickles.

They should have worn a mask when they robbed you!
This product is often sold by a yummy chick with plenty of cleavage so hope you had a good perve.
Often the protection upseller makes more commision in a month than the sales reps.
When I told the yummy chick I did not want protection she told me there was no warranty on the paint at all so they will tell you what you want to hear to get the sale

Not only are they taking you for a ride, they’re taking you for a holiday.
Ask them to give you a copy of the contract to read before you pay any money and take note of all the do’s and don’ts required under the contract. That alone will turn you off.
A good detailer will offer you the same or better protection for a fraction of the cost.
Or alternatively polish it yourself with some good quality polish and save yourself a lot of money. Check out the Car Care Section of the forum.
.
Its a scam...they told me I would never ever have to polish my car if I take it. And that I don't have to worry about bat droppings as well. Yea right, dont bull **** me....
I would rather spend that money on OTRCAI and tune mate.

I would buy some products for leather care from forum sponsor carcare products and just do it yourself. I bought Zaino professional leather care system and I must say I am really happy with it.
Enjoy the new ride mate

I agree - total ripoff. That goes for all the extra things they try and coerce you to buy - fabric protection, paint protection, underbody rust protection, window tinting. All either not necessary at all or available much cheaper and better quality away from the dealer. They hit you to purchase these things when you are at a very vulnerable stage wanting to protect your new pride and joy. Don't be fooled !!!

For leather protection...I use the Holden "kit"....3 bottles..cleaner, conditioner, & protectant....all for $24.95.....been using it on our GTO's yellow leather seats for 5 yrs now, and they're still like new.
Cheers, Pickles.

Mate,
Just went through the same thing last month, just bought my wife a new car from a Holden Dealer, and they wanted $2,500 for fabric protection, paint protection, rust protection and window tinting.
I said no, and got the fabric protection, paint protection, window tinting done at a commercial place for $580.
I spoke to my Detailer, and he informed me that the dealer package is a scam, and that once you by it guys like him are called in to do the work at a faction of the price.
Cancel it now, that money is better off in your pocket .

Sorry to say it but most dealer paint protection is a rip, you can buy great products from places like carcareproducts that will protect your car and keep it looking great for a fraction of the price.

Seeing you are a country driver like myself I can't recommend more highly a clear bra wrap for the front of your car to protect from stonechips like you know you are going to get. http://www.ozicozi.com.au/surfacetech/ The place I drove to in Sydney has now done all my cars. They have the latest long term paint protection products also so you could get your clear bra done and protection over the top in the one place. They did my HSV in a day for me whilst I waited and drooled on the exotics they had there at the time. I'm using the nanolex product as above due to suede and leather combo seats. Just do it often whatever you use.
