Does anyone know if this is still available? I have found the complete rear view mirror with harness at the wreckers & also on eBay. Wanting to know can I retro fit it to my VZ Monaro? HSV GTOs have this as an option also do Holden still offer this GPS tracking service & everything else that comes with the system?

I heard that another company does something similar can't remember their name car something...... But would prefer the original look of the Holden system with mirror

No the genuine product is not.
AAPL, who made the original module, no longer produce them, nor even repair faulty ones.

so if i vought this one from the wreckers or ebay would i be able to connect it up and then pay my subscription and get my car monitored and all that stuff?

I found this PDF. of course it reffers to a VE but gives indication that you can swap from one car to another if you buy another Holden. Which makes me think i can get a WH/WL Caprice model and retro fit it to my VZ Monaro. Thoughts?

can someone provide me with some help to the Holden Assist? I found a Monaro CV8R with one fitted. if i purchase one from a WH Caprice can i still retro fit to my VZ Monaro? I gather its a process of hooking it up to your ECU and all that sort of stuff? or do I need to find one out of a Monaro?

The bulletin released about the non-serviceability of these modules talks about not being able to swap modules between cars to make a faulty car work again.
That's all I can tell you.

Never worked if the GTS Coupe was parked in my old Zincalum Garage the car disappeared off the planet...then when I drove the car out every time ...they would call me incar and ask for confimation I was infact the owner driving the car!!!

so does that mean something has happened to that module and it no longer works? I think a phone call to Holden might help me out unless I get someone who doesnt know what Im talking about.

so I rang up Holden Customer Service, the bloke didnt know anything about what I was talking about. He did put me through to a dealer thats in Ballarat, Im in Adelaide. The service manager reckons that Holdens no longer offer this service and all the people who have this fitted to their cars it no longer works. so basically its a really expensive mirror that just sits there and does nothing.

For you guys who have this fitted to your cars, does it still work? is it monitored by a second company now?

BINGO Rang the Holden Assist number, they explained everything to me. Yes they still do monitoring of the system, so have no idea what the service guy was going on about. The Holden Assist guy says the system is all the same through all of the cars, they are then just programmed to your car, you pay a yearly subscription of $350 which gives you your GPS tracking/monitoring/alarm and any road side call outs, flat tyers, dead battery, engine troubles.

It's a good system. But damm expensive. You could leave an old smart phone in the car on a prepaid plan and have the same tracking capabilities. In the US Onstar comes with most vehicles and is cheaper at only $200 after the free period. The burger with the lot plan (voice nav) is $300. On star even let's you lock unlock your car hell even start it from your phone. I'm amazed Holden hasn't pushed it here.

I know Macca sounds like such a good system, I'm sure if they pushed it more people would have it & hopefully bring the price down. As for me I think I wouldn't mind spending the $300 as apposed the heart ache if something bad would happen.

Now that I'm going to be in the process of swapping over all the info with Holden Assist & getting it programed at the Dealership, can anyone provide some info how to fit it, where the parts go?

The guy at HA reckons the main module fits in the boot???

I imagine there is a bit to it. Harnesses to the mirror, bcm, boot. Install of modules like gps/ phone ae, mirror, speaker, mic

We had similar issues with our old senator, also as holden assist uses a gsm sim card, we had someone calling our car after dialing the wrong number. It was funny, but strange at the same time.

So have now hit the final hurdle/snag. got all the car details rang up Holden Assist and it turn out that the unit or SIM card is now inactive :( turns out once they are inactive for 6 months or more, or if canclled they cant be turned back on. dont know if there is a way around this or not. guy reckons i was smart to ring holden assist first before buying the thing.

so Im not giving up, still pushing through. does anyone know who I can speak to in regards to getting a new Telematics module or who manufactured them? Part number is 92107932. ideally it would be nice if someone was wrecking a car that had one fitted and they were still curently using up until now.

so if anyone has any information, I would be greatful for it.

So apparently I can send in the unit to AAPL and they will do their thing to make it work and thats it, then I can get it hooked back up onto the system.

I hope this information may help someone else in the future who maybe looking at the same thing.

Following on from what I posted way back in post #2, I will provide some further information, as this thread seems to be heading in a direction us dealers have been told is NOT possible.

New telematics modules are no longer available from either HSPO (Holden) or Australian Arrow (AAPL).
Do not attempt to use a second hand module to repair a car.
Telematics modules must be programmed to suit a
specific vehicle. This programming cannot be done by
a Holden dealer. Australian Arrow (AAPL) can no longer carry out this
programming function.

So if ive let mine lapse which I have thats it then?

Seems a bit wrong since there is nothing wrong with the hardware side of things.

You would think that a new activated sim would fix it.

Had a look for it in my car. Not too hard to find.

http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/vv305/MadDogMonaro/Monaro%20Misc/Telematics.jpg

And yes damn fiddly to remove.

It was suggested at the time I had my Coupe that you could do this via a new Programmed Sim (ie Prepaid)...I did have the info for the guy who had the knowledge to do this!!!...and had DONE IT !!!
I'll see if I can dig it up ..it's in one of the files on my Laptop ..SOMEWHERE!!!

OLDYELLA have you heard anything back from your mate? Mad Dog I have a different one which i think is mounted in the boot somewhere, its way to big to fit under the steering column with the fuse panel, maybe thats not the correct thing in your picture??? unless they changed and updated the telematics module..... I will try post some pics up of mine tonight.

Mad Dog

Try the other side. :)

I removed it, opened it up, and it does contain the sim. Not to mention it has a sticker.

http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/vv305/MadDogMonaro/Monaro%20Misc/Telematics2.jpg

Fits in a bracket, two prongs one end and a single screw in the other. Its high up and hard to get to.

Well its been a while and ive pretty much got nowhere. What ive learnt.

After 6 months the sims are cancelled.

Holden assist can not reactivate these and advise to see dealer service department.

Spare parts have listed telematics unit and manual. They cant get telematics unit.

Techline also advises these cannot be fixed if there is a problem.

Service dept cannot reactivate sim.

You can send your expired/cancelled sim to Holden via service department where they have 30 telematic units in stock which you can swap yours for.

They apparently cant just send the sim, they cant say why.

The cost of sending it in is $1500. Which sounds like a number plucked out of the air.

So effectively at the moment you pay $1500 for a $2 sim plus subscription fee bringing it up to around $2k.

If Holden does have sims in units why cant they just send the sims. It appears it is possible to get an activated sim its just that Holden want to swap whole unit.

No one has done it and from what service bloke Grant says its unlikely at that cost anyone will.

Looks like aftermarket is the only sensible choice.

I still find it hard to beleive that if you let it lapse your either no longer have a functioning unit or a bill of $1500.

:flipoff:

So where was the unit located in the different cars? Ihave a HSV avalanche the holden assist still works except for the fact a put in aftermarket stereo and now i cant hear anything but they can still hear me ant ideas on a solution?
cheers

Mine was located up high under the dash behind the glovebox. I can adjust the sound level heard via the factory stereo. So it would appear you need to find the wire going to the head unit and wire it in to the aftermarket head units phone input wire. Shouldnt be too hard to figure out as wire is obviously there just not connected when it was installed.
