Hi All,
I've got a VZ Exec wagon.
Like all Exec's, it's pretty bland to look at.

I'm going to have another set of door moulding painted body colour and then remove the existing ones and fit the newly painted ones.

My thoughts on getting the existing ones of are, heat gun, prepwash or wax and grease remover and some patience.

As for sticking them back on, what should I use?
Is there some sort of super sticky double-sided tape or a Sikaflex product that people use?

Any thoughts and info would be great.
Cheers,
Ash

Get some 3M VHB tape to stick them back on. Pretty sure its what most manufacturers use from the factory.

Before removal run masking tape along the edges so refitting is easy (helps a lot with lining it all back up).
Even use a hairdryer just to warm up the silastic behind it and remove (may need to get behind it with a screwdriver but becareful)
Once removed clean as much as possible with white spirits.
The new moulds will have double sided tape but this is not strong enough. I have always run a bead of sikaflex along top and bottom of moulds as last thing you want is it coming off. Make sure you keep a rag handy with white spirits to wipe off any excess.
Fit and remove masking tape. Then with strips of masking tape put them over the moulds vertically and leave for a few hours to let the sikaflex set.
Don't wash the car for atleast 24hours.
Only use masking tape otherwise will damage paint work and dont leave tape on for more than 8 hours.

Get masking tap rip it into 4" peices and slide it under and around the moulds and paint them on the car heaps easier than talking them off as the sikaflex they use to glue them on is a pain in the arse to remove

I have used some good quality (can't remember what brand) double sided tape and never had a problem with them falling off afterwards, alot easier to remove in the future if you need to
