I know there are a couple of threads already regarding this but was reading Street Commodores No.168 Page 87/88 "Oil and its Level" for race day. It states that you can overfill by 1 litre of oil in the sump (at the kink in the LS1 dipstick for the new full point) which improves the pick up as oil sloshes around but its still not enough to push above the windage point of the crankshaft (which can cause foaming oil being whipped up by the crank, and air bubbles getting pumped through the bearings and motor.) This was for a VT LS1. Is the oil capacity for a 2002 VX LS1 the same (my owners manual says 5.0Ltrs inc. filter but this only brings the oil level to half way up the operating range on the dip stick (checked after engine at normal temp). So
I normally fill my vx with 5.5 Litres including the filter which brings the level to max fill point indicator line. So if I decide to add a 300ml bottle of engine treatment -Liqui Moly- should I drain 300mL of oil to keep the level the same or would it still be ok to be that bit over....
Cheers
